DeAnthony Arnett (Saginaw, MI./Saginaw) tells me today that he's up to 27 offers and USC, Notre Dame and MSU are his top three. No leader.
Saginaw wide receiver prospect DeAnthony Arnett will be attending the game with a plan in mind. The All-American informed SpartanMag.com he wants to focus on the MSU quarterbacks and wide receivers. The 6-foot, 175-pound Arnett wants to see how he would fit into the offensive scheme.
One thing that caught the attention of several recruits was the performance of second-year quarterback Denard Robinson. Saginaw wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett is one prospect who has been concerned about U-M’s abilities from the quarterback position, but he and several others noted Robinson’s play a signal that the position has potential.
"I didn't think Denard would come out and do as good as he did,” Arnett said. “It seemed like he had a better grasp of the offense than the other two.”
Wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett (Saginaw, Mich.) has a leader and five schools that have made his top seven, ESPN's JC Shurburtt reports.
"Michigan State is my slight leader right now," Arnett said. "I have been over there a lot lately and I saw their spring game and saw a lot of the things that I wanted to see. Cal and Tennessee are two of the teams in my top seven, along with Notre Dame and USC."
Arnett, an ESPNU 150 Watch List talent, added there was no order with the schools behind the Spartans.
He plans to add two more schools to his top seven and a potential sleeper team, but is not ready to announce those schools publicly.
Michigan, Oklahoma, UCLA, Iowa, Oregon, Cincinnati, Alabama, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Purdue and Illinois among several others.
The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect caught 41 passes for 875 yards (21.3 average) and 10 touchdowns.
DeAnthony Arnett has learned to be analytical when it comes to recruiting. The receiver evaluates schools like coaches evaluate his film.
Schools need to have the right quarterback situation, and Arnett also likes the idea of playing for a program on the rise. And if the coach is on the verge of leaving--either voluntarily or not--he'll consider that, too. And don't forget every recruit's dream--to get an immediate chance to compete for a starting position.
...
Right now, USC, Notre Dame and Michigan State appear to be the trio of schools that have just a bit more going for them than the other couple dozen schools pursuing him.
"I mean no disrespect to the other schools, it's just that those three are the ones that stick out the most right now; right now they're ahead of the pack," Arnett (6-0/170) told Sporting News. "They've told me what I need to hear and what I need to know ... I've been doing my research.
...
"I always say I'm versatile; that's what coaches say they're looking for," Arnett said. "I can play the slot or on the outside and I'm quick off the line. I don't have to use my speed to get open, nobody calls me a burner, but I can make people miss in the open field. I know what I lack is the size, but eventually I'm going to get the size."
How would he have the ability to play early at USC?
Named a top 6, with no ND: Michigan State, California, Tennessee, Oklahoma, USC, and Iowa.
Just to let everybody know USC is my top school and we gone leave it as that ..... Trojans stand up
The USC Scout recruitnik seems to think if SC really wants him then he'll sign with SC.
USC can have Arnett, I'd rather have DaVaris Daniels.
I'm pretty sure the reason why our coaches cooled on him is the same reason I didn't like him from the beginning. The more I learned about him the less I thought he fits Kelly's RKG mold at all.
While he might seem like a jack @$$
Justice Hayes is apparently assisting Kelly's staff in recruiting this kid...
Doesn't seem like a match for us though...but maybe Longo can work the attitude out of him.
Anyway...just wanted to get it out there that Hayes lives 37 miles away from him and has been in contact with him.
Any word on this kids ACT/SAT scores? I'm wondering if Admissions will let him in. Any alums have input?
