Speaking of BGIF, where is he? ... I noticed his absence after dshans written beat down...

It wasn't a "beat down." It was a friendly poke in the ribs accompanied by a good hearted chortle.

The man can more than hold his own and knows a shit-load more about football and Fighting Irish athletic history than I. He mines the depths and breadth of the CFB universe for information while I generally just crack wise.

I've wondered and worried about his absence, too. I hope that my assumption that he is taking advantage of this "down time" to tend to family and other business is correct.

Hell, he's about the only one who gets my obscure references to life in the 50's and 60's.

Good thing, because I have no idea about that era, being a young whipper snapper and all.

Respect your elders! Have I told you about the time I, um ... I, uh ... what was I saying? Can I get back to you? It's time for a nap.

The BigIF probably took Ferris Beuller's day off. Not much going on in the college football world at the moment, so I'm betting he is at the Playboy Mansion gathering insight on the next recruiting class.

Hopefully he doesn't get too involved with the research. We need him back.

Boss Dishhands, you have more fire now than any of us had when we were benching 500 and squatting 700. Cut the shit. And get a haircut for Crist sake. And buy some new shoes.

Speaking of BGIF, where is he? BGIF has been gone for something like two weeks. I noticed his absence after dshans written beat down...

BGIF is in The House.

Looking back my last post was May 6th. dshans characterized it pretty well - on all points. Will have to rep the man, although repping him for insight seems redundant.

The past two weeks I've been in the Land of Guinness and I have a Certificate as a Master Pint Pourer to prove it. I can now draw a shamrock in foam right from the tap. My dad who owned a gin mill when I was a lad would be proud. My wife wants to frame the certificate and hang it next to one she hung in our den 18 years ago, "Authentic Irishman For Hire
Storytelling & Singing
Dancing & Carrying On
Available All Hours
Experienced Drinking Companion"

The woman recognizes all my fine points.

Mrs. BGIF mentioned the possibility of a trip to Ireland in early May. We've had it "planned" for 18 years and it kept getting shelved for weddings, funerals, and the like so I didn't get overly excited. On the morning of May 13th she was packing suitcases; we had a flight that night. Hey, she's a redhead.

Great trip, great weather (despite the volcano), wonderful people. Driving over there is a continuous adrenaline rush. Driving on the the left, narrow lanes, too frequent single lane bridges, and speed limits that boggle the mind given the road widths, paving or lack of it, and proximity of stone or brick walls right up to the pavement. It got real exciting when you realized the straight horizontal muliticolored lines on the brick walls at the very narrow chock points coincided with the height of your car's sideview mirror.

Got back yesterday. One blow out, 2 lost hubcabs. No permanent injuries.

I read IE a couple of times on the trip but didn't post. Roaming charges ate up my ATT International account rather rapidly. Used WiFi when the hotels had it. Most B&Bs we stayed at, didn't have it. It also didn't seem to be connubially prudent to spend 5-10 hours a day in the Land of Green gleaning CFB info from myriad sources for a message board.

I actually started reducing my board activity at the end of April. A couple of weeks before my wife's surprise trip. Looking back today, I hadn't posted in the Word Game thread since May 2nd. Several reasons for the decline in activity. Again, dshans nailed most of them. Only so many hours in a day, only so much can be dealt with at one time. Circumstances dictate adjustments.

Go Irish!

BTW, trips like this are proof that we need a smart phone accessible IE. I think I may hyperventilate without my IE on my trip to Minnesota this summer.

I just figured he was the next commitment for the Irish and he was setting up a press conference with 5 different ND hats...

Boss Dishhands ... Cut the shit. And get a haircut for Crist sake. And buy some new shoes.

Do you have any idea how futile it is to ask an Irishman to "cut the shit?" It is the thing that defines our very soul and shapes our personality – as annoying as that might be at times.

The photo you see was taken about a year ago as I was headed to the barber shop. I didn't want to embarrass my son at his graduation from college. "Off with his hair!" The beard (but not the mustache) disappeared a few hours later. The beard tends to be seasonal. It comes in handy during a Minnesota winter.

As for shoes: I keep it simple. A pair of black dress shoes, two pairs of sneakers for volleyball – one for indoor and one for outdoor, hiking boots and steel-toed construction boots for working on my tree house and repairs around the house. Nothing magenta, lime green, silver or electric blue.

BGIF hasn't gone far... In fact, he was here at 4:39 this afternoon. Perhaps he just doesn't feel the need to see himself post just for the sake of posting....

FINALLY!!!... that guy was like two thousand posts behind me and overtook me in a months of weeks... I hate those post for the sake of posting guys...

When will you be in my adopted home state? If you'll be in the Minneapolis area for any stretch of time we should get together for a pint or three. I'll even try to borrow a laptop so you can get your IE fix.

July. I'm from the greatest city in the world, Duluth. Well, rural Duluth to be exact. I plan on getting some Sammy's Pizza immediately after arriving to Duluth. Drive up the North Shore to my friends smoke fish shop in French River is also on the menu. I also plan on going to my buddy's cabin on Island Lake and catching walleye (no walleye is the worst part about living in Florida).

I may go to the cities as well, seeing how most of my UMD friends are from there (Burnsville and Woodbury). You will be in consideratiion, but to be honest I don't know much about the cities other than the Metrodome and Valley Fair. I want to see a Twins game VERY badly. Have you been to the new field?

I like that she has by far the most Minnesotan accent (which I still try to cling on to). About the movie, D2, I always wondered how the kids just forgot how to play hockey.

Ireland trip would be sweet. And we all need a break from here from time to time. I haven't been very active lately, just not much on the football front to talk about!
