Here is the video I used for my evaluation. AGAIN, this is a HIGHLIGHT tape. There are going to be few to no mistakes listed. If I wanna look good, I'm not going to show my butt getting beat.

Again, this is stream of consciousness. It is how I write me notes:
• He's big with a little bit of a paunch stomach. I like.
• He's finishing blocks.
• He's high in his run-blocking, he needs to get his pads down.
• His feet aren't as active as I'd like to see. After contact, it becomes more of an anchor step.
• Why is he playing RT?
• He's STILL FREAKING HIGH! SINK YOUR FREAKING HIPS!!!
• Good blitz recognition.
• Not bad in space... after first contact, he's okay. But I think he's using his strength more than proper technique.
• He's absorbing d-linemen instead of punching. He still moves them, but against better D-Linemen, he's going to get tossed around.
• Not a bad kick-step. He's setting the corner.
• He still finishes blocks. I like that bit of a mean streak.
• He likes the pancake.
• On D-Line, it's all strength. All I've seen are bull-rushes. Little else.
• SINK YOUR FREAKING HIPS OR I WILL HAVE A SNIPER END YOUR LIFE!!! STOP BEING FREAKING HIGH!!!
• He's not letting anyone get around the corner. Excellent job.
• He's bating kids with his little quick pivot inside step. Then, he just drops the boom on the shoulder. Nice move to get a pancake, but it won't work against superior competition.
• He's got good footwork in the zone. He gets on his rail and works up to the second level well. He is making contact every time on someone in a different colored jersey.
• His hands need to be more active. Once he punches, he's not trying to punch back inside to get inside the box. That being said, most of his punches are getting at least one hand inside the box and on the defender's chest.
• On run blocking, he NEVER stops his feet. Excellent. HE NEEDS TO DO THIS ON PASS PROTECTION!!!
• I personally think he's better out of a three point than a two point.
Strong kid. Relies on his strength a bit too much. The potential is there to be an elite lineman. He's GOT to work on his technique.

Wow. You think I would haven noticed that just once.
I didn't notice the first time I played the clip. I was watching Hanratty and missing most of what you saw. I think it shows up on the second or third play on the clip. Most of the shots don't include the QB as they're focused on Hanratty.

I got a chuckle out of that too, but it is a perfect example of what Wabash said about him absorbing the defense rather than punching, and of riding too high.
I also got a kick out of the 8:49 mark. That poor #32 on defense never stood a chance.

Glad to see a legacy commit. Plays with a mean streak. Rivals projects him as a G at the next level, they also pointed out that he is a year ahead so he should be a sophmore right now.

Scout switched him to #2 OG. Here is the explanation from Scout:

It makes sense since there are three OT's in this class, and if they all pan out they won't all be able to get on the field. I agree that of the three, Hanratty would do the best inside.

So I did end up going to his game this past Friday night, as his team faced my former high school. His team absolutely crushed us. The final score was 42-20, but it was 42-7 at half time. I was disappointed in my former high schools effort.
Anyway Conor looked great of course. He is just so much bigger than anyone else on the field and just dominated on the O-line. He played right tackle and dominated in the run game getting to the second level at will. In the pass game he just engulfed the DE's, because he is so big. He still looks like he is playing high in his pass protection. It might just look that way, because he is so large and his opponents are tiny in comparison. He is also the starting NT. He played well there and consistently got double and sometimes triple teamed. But he isn't a dominant force on the defensive side of the ball! I think he is going to need to red shirt, but will be a very good guard for us in the future.
