Offers are coming fast and furious for one North Carolina wide receiver. The Fighting Irish are the latest scholarship for the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder.

Rivals lists the offer in his profile. I don't find it listed on Scout, ESPN, or B&G yet.

B&G lists him with an ND offer and they note:

He earned all-state and all-conference honors in his first year playing football after switching from soccer.

A Shane Walton on the other side of the ball?

ISD has a story up on him, and he talks about playing soccer for his h.s. team but they were horrible and he wanted to be on a winning team for once (his h.s. football team went to state 2 yrs in a row) so he tried out for football. He struggled mightily at first and almost quit, but started to do well in the 7 on 7s and then took the first pass (a bomb) in his first real game to the house and the rest is history. He averaged like 30 yards a catch last year, so you know he can fly.

Said he was awed by the ND offer, and has us in his top 3, and will make a decision by the end of the summer. Is being recruited as a DB but could switch to WR once he gets to camp should he commit...

Farley named ND his leader per ISD.

To add to that, he told ISD that he loved everything about his visit, and he wanted to commit on the spot. Loved the school, the players, the coaches, the facilities, everything. However, he wanted to make sure that he didn't make a rash decision and that he wants to let his decision 'marinate'. But if his euphoria over his trip continues in the next couple of days, ND will get its next commit!

Matthias Farley could be next commitment for the Fighting Irish

4/20
Athlete Matthias Farley (Charlotte, N.C./Christian) appears ready to make a commitment to Notre Dame, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.

Farley said of his recent visit to South Bend, Ind., "I loved it. Loved the coaches, loved the facilities, loved the players. I'm just thinking I have to fly home. I just need some time to take it all in and make my decision. If I feel the same way I do now, there is no point in prolonging it."

UCLA, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Illinois, North Carolina State, Duke, Maryland and East Carolina have also offered the 6-foot, 185-pound prospect.

He continued, "I'm pretty much on a Notre Dame high. I have to (think) on it, and maybe that will change, but I don't think so."

Farley caught 29 passes for 849 yards (29.3 average) and 12 touchdowns. He also recorded 19 tackles and three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

"I'm pretty much on a Notre Dame high."

Join the club.

So do we really want this guy? watching his video he seems like a project type of guy, I mean I would love to see him commit but with the lack of scholarships this year.

I'll take an athletic corner with lots of upside potential any day.

He earned all-state and all-conference honors in his first year playing football after switching from soccer.

Caught 3 dozen passes, a TD every 3 catches, almost 25 ypc, a couple of INTs, one returned for a TD. Imagine what a second year of football could do for him.

He does have another season of HS football to further develop before stepping on a college campus.

He is a project but he's a smart kid who's got the athletic tools to be very, very good. The tools are there it's just get coached up and getting in more games. He's no early impact recruit but in time with proper coaching I can see him being very good as the tools are there.

The only thing I worry about is natural instinct but that's because there's such a little body of work not because he was a soccer player, I felt the same way about Barr last year as LB or DE because despite having the size and speed that's ideal for those positions I didn't believe the natural instinct was there as it was for him as a RB.

SPEED, SPEED, and more SPEED. This kid can fly, and 6'1" for a corner? Love it...we need big corners seeing as how our current freshmen corners aren't big.

And he LOVES Notre Dame already. He woke up this morning, ran to his computer, and listened to "Here Comes the Irish", then called the coaches and committed.

He's gonna blow up his senior year, watch, and you'll see his star rating go up as well. He's only played one year of football and he completely dominated. Even with only one year of playing, teams like UCLA, Wisconsin and North Carolina found out about him. Now that he has a year under his belt and some confidence from all these teams wanting him, watch out.

Welcome aboard kid!

Welcome aboard kid!

From what I saw on his film, he played safety, But has plenty speed to play corner. If he sticks to WR, he needs to work on his route running very badly. He reminds me of Golden on his freshman season: tons of fly routes. I find it hard to believe if he does well this season that he won't be a five, or maybe high four star player when the final Rivals list is out.

Talk about a friggin RKG...are you kidding me?! Woke up and ran to his computer to hear "Here come the irish" ?!?! Can anyone remember a guy who had been more excited to be irish? I can't.

Kudos to Kelly and his staff for going after guys who love and wanna compete for Notre Dame, not the NFL. You'll notice out of all 4 commits so far, not one mentioned an iota about the NFL. It's all ND, ND, ND, and coach kelly.

This is a HUGE pickup! What this kid did in only playing 1 year of football is fantastic...I completely agree that with that confidence of getting all those looks by big schools, his confidence will shoot up and have a big season this year....i would not be surprised if he is a 4 or 5 star corner by the end of the year.
I'll tell you what...I love what Kelly is doing with recruiting so far. Not only is he going out and getting high quality prospects, he's getting kids that love the IRISH and realize what we can accomplish with our new coach!
DAMN IM WAY TOO EXCITED FOR THIS COMING SEASON AND DYNASTY!!!!

Read in an article that Lemming calls this a "big get" for us. I think Lemming does know his stuff and is usually spot on with his knowledge (like him or not). The transition and stop and start will help him as a DB, but not much if he was the goalkeeper.

Welcome aboard Mr. Farley
