Recently Offered per Rivals and ISD. Friends with Tai-ler Jones.

Will be a tough pull out of SEC country. Auburn & UGA seem to have the upper hand.

Per ESPN's On the Trail:

Highly-coveted defensive lineman Sterling Bailey names seven finalists

Sterling Bailey (Gainesville, Ga./East Hall), who is holding 23 scholarship offers, has narrowed his search, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.

His father, Kevin Bailey, listed the contenders, "Georgia, Florida, Notre Dame, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia Tech."

The ESPNU 150 Watch List talent has visited each of his favorites with the exception of Notre Dame, where he'll likely make an official visit in the fall.

Auburn, USC, Florida State, Ole Miss, California, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Texas Tech are among his other offers.

"We're not throwing them out yet," Bailey's father said. "They're still there. He could change his mind. Right now I really don?t know. This is a whole new thing to him."

The 6-foot-5, 239-pound prospect registered 55 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and five sacks as a junior.

He is going to be a tough pull of out Georgia. UGA is a little more than an hour away, but TJ being at ND helps a ton. He is perfect size for 3-4 which UGA just switch to.

Have to get him on campus and win.

Bailey will make his announcement on May 14th. He had previously said he would take official visits.

Gonna be a suprise if he's not a Dawg. He's been to Athens more than a half dozen times in the past year.

Per NDinL.A. (in a different thread)

His dad (Sterling Bailey's) told ISD that an ND coach (I forget who) was there to see him recently, and the coach told Sterling that ND wants him BADLY. Papa Sterling said that ND will get a visit in the fall (despite the fact that Sterling is about to commit to a school - most likely Georgia). Sooooo.....expect this recruitment to draaaaaaggggg out, even with the upcoming announcement...<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Pack it up, lets move on. Even if he wants to visit I'd tell him thanks but no thanks..

I feel you, but you can't do that, not in today's recruiting game. Guys commit and de-commit all the time, and sometimes you have the be the 'bad guy' and be there when the kid gets cold feet. It sucks but it's just the way it is. Cold-blooded. We have plenty of guys on our roster, most notably a freshman by the name of Tai'ler Jones (who is already projected to be a starter next year), who have committed to other schools, took visits to ND, and committed to ND. And it's happened to us as well.

Just the nature of the beast. Can't turn down studs who want to visit. ND is a special place, and it makes some guys feel right at home. We have to keep the door open for those guys...

Very interesting..... I wonder what happens if we get Lynch?

Bailey is ranked very high on Rivals and ESPN (top 100 overall and top 150) but ranked low on scout. Is this insurance in case something funky goes on with Lynch? Or does he project as an OLB?

Also, now that it is out there, expect Georgia coaches to go balls to the wall to keep him in state.

Based on the information I could find, his size potential is 6'5" 270 lbs, that seems to be a little too big to be a OLB.

Also, it says that he's coming from a small high school, so it sounds like he'd redshirt then that gives the staff more time to decide if he's a DE or OLB. Either way with a 3-4, it's always great to have depth to rotate in and out.

I have to admit that a 6'5" 270 OLB would be pretty awesome though.

Right but at 6'4"/6'5" 245 with 4.7ish speed that is perfect for OLB. For all we know they could try to keep him lean and mean and fast. Just a thought.

Agreed. As long as he has the lateral speed to go along with the 4.7, OLB could be the perfect position for him. Perhaps, this is the surprise commitment that Tuitt was talking about after the AAA game.
