Cleveland Browns release former Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Anderson - ESPN


The browns have recently acquired Seneca Wallace from Seattle as well. Seneca has been the longtiome backup at Seattle (when holmgren was there) and now he is with Holmgren again in CLE. it looks like to me Brady Quinn is going to get his shot at being an NFL qb. With Anderson out, and a career backup on the roster, I think Quinn will get a stable enviornment to show what he is made of. Now only if that Oline was a little better.....

Brady will be worlds better knowing that John St. Clair isn't playing RT anymore. I'm anxious to see this dude from SF....anything would be an upgrade at this point.

I couldn't agree more. There are so many holes on the Browns though. IMO defense in a top priority this year though, especially in the defensive backfield.

Browns are looking to unload Brady too is the word on ESPN (don't believe) but also the word here in Cleveland. When they got Wallace all of the reporters in Cleveland were reporting he came in to start or to backup a qb not yet in Cleveland. I'm sorry to say guys but Brady never was really looked at to start here by Holmgren according to the Cleveland pundits.

Delhomme is in Cleveland today for a meeting with Holmgren according to Schefter. Various reports have said Holmgren loves Clausen.

Good. Maybe now BQ will get a chance to actually have a career in the NFL. The Browns are one of the worst franchises in the league and even though it was a nice story (home state team, his fav team growing up, etc.), he needed to go somewhere with some talent. People like to rail on him as not being up to the hype, but when you have the craptastic team around him like he did in Cleveland, it's tough to succeed.

this is great for me on a personal note, because a friend of mine is big, big, big Broncos/USC fan. The fact that the Broncos drafted Bruton a few years ago, had a stint with Darius Walker, and have players like Ryan Harris is funny. I would like nothing more to have Quinn get the starting job, just so my buddy can then cheer for Brady Quinn, a player he had nothing good to say about while he was in college.

he is a Broncos/USC fan, I am a Raiders/Notre Dame fan. I met him at a time that the Raiders had beat 18 of 20 from the broncos, and Notre Dame had not lost to USC for 11 years. aaahhh, yes, the good ol' days, how things have changed Now you can pretty reverse those streaks for both of my teams.
