Tressel is a good coach, it's just the team that he coaches for. I have a lot of respect for him though.

As much as I dislike 1,2, and 3, I can't say they are bad coaches. You can't argue with Carol at #1. He has built the closest thing to a dynasty in college football. And even though he is a snake, Urban Meyer is a great coach. He won at Utah of all places and and at Florida. I personally think Jim Tressel is a good coach, but not great. I think he has benefited from playing in an extremely weak conference and a soft non conference schedule. Les Miles shouldn't be #4! He doesn't have enough long term success to warrant that high of a ranking and stepped into a loaded talent pool at LSU. I think #6 is way too low for Mark Rhict! They only thing he is missing is a national championship, and he may get that this year. Georgia has averaged 9-10 wins a year this decade (in the toughest conference). He's always around the top 5 in recruiting and runs a clean program. I would put him at #2.

Here's my top 5 coaches (ALL AROUND)

#1. Pete Carroll
#2. Mark Rhict
#3. Jim Tressel
#4. Urban Meyer
#5. Bob Stoops

I think if Charlie can get 9-10 wins this year and a ring next year, he's back in the elite!

GO IRISH!

I'm not ready to classify Urban Meyer as great just yet. At Utah, he had the cupcake schedule...the toughest team on that schedule was Texas A&M, and lets be honest they haven't been that great in a while. He inherited a strong program at Florida to win a NC. They lost 3 games last year, including thier bowl game to Michigan (who was absolutely trounced by Oregon earlier in the season).

See here is the thing... I don't dislike Tressel. He doesn't bother me. But Meyer? forgetaboutit. I can't stand that guy. Florida is one team that I hate yet would love to play. Only because I hate them that much. I have disdain for USC but not as much as Florida.

Without any emotion involved, top coaches:

1. Pete Carroll
2. Jim Tressel
3. Jim Grobe
4. Frank Beamer
5. Urban Meyer

The more with less guys are the ones I have respect for. That is why Jim Grobe is high on the list. Yet there is more intangibles than x's and o's that coaches have to adhere to. That's why Poodle is at the top of the list...
