Not really, just got me pumped more than anything!!!!!

Some of you may know me, some may not. I try to stay away from the message board during the off-season. I nearly had a heart attack last season watching every game so I decided I was in need of a MUCH needed break from ND football (yeah right). But every now and then I get enough booze in me where I decide to go back and look at some old ND videos to get me back in the swing of things.

I found something I have never ever seen before, and thought it was really awesome. Many people say they have never seen/heard ND stadium as loud as it was when #1 USC rolled into town to face the #9 Fighting Irish. Well here is the video of USC walking into Notre Dame stadium and the fans screaming at the top of their lungs for 3 mins straight.

Shit like this just pumps me up. So fun to watch.

Why did we have to lose this epic game? lol. To make it even worse I bought a DVD copy of this game off ebay for 12 bucks 5 months ago and the guy never gave me the DVD. LOL. To this day Notre Dame fans are still getting screwed over in this game.

Ah I'm so psyched now! I may be biased but there are no better fans in all of sports. We deserve a great season to cheer for, instead of the mediocrity we've been dealing with lately. Even through these rough times everyone is still psyched for the Irish.

Yea...such awesome fans that they throw snowballs at their own team on senior day...

Passionate, ND is up there. Though Egypt did withdraw their ambassador to Algeria due to a dispute about the reffing in a world-cup qualification match.

Sorry, the videos don't play out here so I wasn't swept up with the emotional part of the post...that left me grappling with the philosophical question of "can a fan base who turned so rapidly and viciously on its team/coach be counted as the best in sports." My compromise was substituting passionate for best...with the caveat that Notre Dame Football has yet to cause an international diplomatic incident, though I don't doubt it could if it ever played teams outside the US (maybe if Texas leaves the union again....)

"a fan base who turned so rapidly and viciously on its team/coach"

Who are you talking about?

I recall an Alabama fan throwing a brick threw the window in the door of Head Coach Bill Curry's office (Curry won the SEC Championship, went 26-10 and won 2 out of 3 bowl games but was 0-3 against Auburn). They also made death threats against his family dog and sent moving vans to his house. Jim Donnan at UGA, Zook at UF, Terry Bowden at Auburn, all received similar expressions of "fan support" as did coaches in the PAC-10, SWC, Big 12, and Big 10 (Earl Bruce, John Cooper, and Lloyd Carr). Back in the 20's and 30's hanging/burning coaches in effigy was in vogue.

What did ND fans do? Buy a billboard complimenting Weis on his 5th year of internship.

I've found ND fans more irate with the Administration's (Malloy, Beauchamp, and Wadsworth and White's) bumbling hires of the unqualifed than with the coaches.

As for "rapidly", there were many ND fans who never embraced Weis as a qualified college HC believing ND is no place for On The Job training. Other ND fans still believe Weis could have succeeded if any of the DC's had been successful. There is widespread agreement that he didn't get the job done.

Davie and Willingham also had skeptics from the day they were hired. There was no rapid turning of fan support but rather a growing concern that mounted loss, by loss, by loss and mis-time management after mis-time management.

As for "... Notre Dame Football has yet to cause an international diplomatic incident, though I don't doubt it could if it ever played teams outside the US ..."

ND's played outside the US twice that I recall. ND beat Miami in Tokyo in '79 and Navy in Dublin in '96

Aloha Boys,

That was an awesome video buddy.. It is one of the many reasons why I DO NOT LIKE USC.... Those thugs mocking the crowd/fans, waiving thier hands throwning up signs, even getting in some fans faces and laughing. Freak man where is the discipline coach petey???

Actually they were Marshmellows for the Senior prank, and I dont remember there being any snow on the ground then.

Dude, someone said that Charlie is getting fired and the student body threw snow on him to make sure he didn't burn... what's wrong with that???
