ISD just put up something on him. Preferred walk-on or scholarship? I know what I am thinking but want to know others opinions.

I was going to ask this the other day, actually but I forgot. Does ND do the "preferred walk-on" thing? One of my friends is a "regular" walk-on, so maybe he would know if others don't.

He hasn't been offered yet, but the interest is definitely a head-scratcher. Florida State gave him high reviews after he camped with them twice, but their interest waned. back-up plan for the Irish maybe?

I know he had a groin injury which really hampered him this season, so maybe that is the reason interest on him dwindled. He has good size - it would be interesting to see measurables/film.

my best guess is that he is probably the old standby in case this weekend leaves the Irish a few unused scholarships. Coaches must see him a year or two down the road.

These new offers going out are testing my patience, and this one is forcing me to claw at my scalp. I am trying to be as NDinLA is and just give my vote of confidence to BK. He's definitely testing me though

Bruce Heggie accepts offer from the Fighting Irish

Bruce Heggie accepts offer from the Fighting Irish

1/31 Per ESPN's Bill Hodge's On The Trail

Recruited as a defensive end, Bruce Heggie (Mount Dora, Fla.) received a scholarship offer from Notre Dame during a weekend official visit and committed.

"I'm going to Notre Dame," Heggie told ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com.

He registered four sacks and caught 16 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns as a senior earning first team all-county honors.

Heggie's father, Bruce, played football at Florida State.

Nothing against the kid but Kelly is going to have to recruit talent and not just hope that these so called sleepers pan out. I'm all for taking some here and there every year but not to load up on such players as he won't do in Cincy with those types in South Bend.

It's a different level game in and game out and the pressure for him and the players is 10x greater and to win he needs to get better talent.

I prefer this to offering ANOTHER WR, has good size but still seems like a reach

i really don't think it's a waste of a scholly. we weren't gonna use all ours anyway, so why not use on a position of need. kelly obviously sees something in the kis, so instead of bashing him, let's give both a little slack and see what the kid can do in his jr. year. have a little faith in those whose profession it is to recruit/teach and coach. stay positive guys.

Jerry Rice went to Mississippi Valley St. Give the kid a chance. Does Kelly know what he is doing? I would say his record over the last 5-10 years would suggest, yes.
