A major football program head coach is a revenue producer. Teacher's aren't.
My wife agrees...

Tech has been to 10 straight bowl games, has the third best record in the Big 12 Conference, and has the highest graduation rate for football players of any public institution in the country

For the record Leach wasn't fired for how he treated Adam James. Tech has shown us nothing to prove he mistreated any players. This was about money, power, and control.
I have one major problem with this whole matter at Texas Tech.
That is ESPN.
Total abuse of power.
ESPN initially reporting the story through "sources" when in fact the source was its own Craig James.
This was clearly a one sided vendetta by the James family aided and abetted by ESPN. ESPN has an obligation of reporting a story with all the facts and all sides equally represented. After reading the posts on CBS Sports by players and coaches and former coaches of Texas Tech, it is abundantly clear that ESPN intentionally chose to present only one side of the story.
I, for one, cannot render a conclusion as to whether or not Leach should have been fired, because I do not believe all of the facts of the matter have been laid on the table.
First, the reports of his concussion(Yes, there was a team physician who diagnosed the concussion), when it happened, what his behavior was prior to it, ARE IRRELEVANT.
You guys are all missing the point about the concussion and Mark Schlereth hit the nail on the head today on Mike and Mike.
Suppose you are a player on that team and you sustain a concussion. Now with the treatment Adam James was subjected to, are you more or less willing to tell a trainer you are injured? You do NOT PUNISH someone for getting injured. You do NOT lock someone in a fucking shed or garage for being injured.
Mike Leach and his attorney have NEVER disputed the fact that they locked this kid in the shed, TWICE. I don't care who you are, there is no way you can justify how this kid was treated because he had an injury. This whole thing can be summarized by how Mike Leach acted out with his insubordination. He claims Adam James was insubordinate and he punished him by locking him in a shed.
DID THEY LOCK MIKE LEACH IN A SHED FOR ACTING INSUBORDINATE?
No, they fired his ass. If Mike Leach didn't want this kid on his team he could have yanked his scholarship. Again, for those of you attempting to justify his actions you are way off base. I truly pity those of you that think that someone's health is less important then teaching someone a life lesson. There is NO justification for it, none.
As I said - I thought it was reported that James brought up his concussion claims - 3 days after the shed... so it's not irrelevent... after the concussion was "verified" ;-7 no reprimands were made....
espn(note small caps) absolute power corrupts absolutelyI have one major problem with this whole matter at Texas Tech.

You're wrong here jefmaj. Let's say he made those claims after the shed/room incidents. Then why put him in the shed in the first place? Why put him in there with 3 trainers supposedly checking up on him (according to Leach's lawyer)? If he was healthy, then the trainers wouldn't have been part if the equation...
Obviously there will be a side that supports James... and a side that supports Leach... one will not convince the other of their point of view to the point of persuasion...
No winners here... James career and reputation are done... Leach was fired... TT will slip back in to mediocrity... who won? Neither.

The problem I have with this story is that ESPN keeps referring to James as a kid. I am not sure of his exact age, but I am guessing 20, ...
