Why would he retain him, hell, Gray can't hold on to the damned ball, and Riddick seems to have that same problem as well.

Disagree OC. first year our RBs have showed potential, especially AA. Riddick is a freshman.

This is kellys first good move. Firing Corwin.... bad move. I know he helped coach this defense, but it wasnt his or his play calling. If CB would have been callin gthe plays this year, CW would still be the HC.

I agree, but, Alford coaching didn't show that much more, except that Jonas still can't hold on to the ball, Hughes looked overly slow, and Riddick, while looking good at times, put the rock on the carpet a few times as well.

Hughes has had the longets runs every year he has been there and people still call him slow. Grays problems are Gray's problems. If he learns to block and hold onto the ball then he would play more. Allen and Riddick had 2 fumbles combined i believe. Alford is a smart keep.

If he would have been any faster, he would have taken them to the house.

A great keep, I think AA was awesome this year and will be even better next year.

let's not forget, we could't pound the ball in from the 1 yd. line against Navy and UConn.

Don't think you can put the inability to push the ball in from the 1 solely on the running backs, let alone on the RB Coach. I believe the O-line has something to do with it as well.

Has Kelly fired Mendoza yet?

Mendoza's office was cleaned last week.

You better be serious! Please don't be pulling my leg. Are your sources highly placed? If Mendoza is actually gone, I am going to get up in my cubicle right now and do a happy dance big time!!!

I am so happy!!!

I think Alford did a good job of coaching the rb's this year. Alford seems to be a real recruiter. He got credit for landing Nix.

Not sure "impatient" is the word for me, just more curiosity than anything. I truly thought that his staff would take shape much quicker than it's going. Oh well, he's the man in charge ... let him go at his own pace to build the 'puzzle of coaches' needed to take the Irish to the promise land!

He's on top of it. Here's his latest tweet:

"Been underground putting a staff together and protecting our recruiting assets."

He's been here for all of 6 days. I'd rather him get it right than rush through it and hire a bunch of guys that had no chemistry together and weren't very good fits at all like CW with his first staff. We're going to have to trust that Kelly knows what he's doing, and a staff will be in place shortly...

It is my guess (no inside info whatsoever BTW...just reading various sites), that one of the main reasons for this is that he will bring in a number from his Cincy staff but is letting them take the team thru the bowl game. Yes, HE had to get on board as HC as quickly as possible, but he coached those kids and no matter how many of them have said hurtful things, he doesn't want to screw them by taking the whole staff away before such a huge bowl game.

Id have cleaned everybody out from the old regime. I would even fire the leprachaun. 16-21 in the last 3 years requires a colonoscopy.

Lucky for us, you don't make those decision because you'd be getting rid of one the best TE coaches in college football in Bernie Parmalee.. Not only can he coach up the TEs, he also is a decent recruiter and already put 2 ND TEs in the NFL(Anthony Fasano, John Carlson). Looking back, that is the only position that hasn't regress any in pervious years. I'll say it again, lucky for us you don't decide who stays and who goes because you'd be making a big mistake!

Gimme a break, Notre Dame has a tight end tradition going back eons. Its like Penn State and linebackers.

Clean out the toilet, add the blue minty acid, swish around, then flush.

Name me 2 TEs from the Davie and Willingham era that projected to the NFL? You can't! That was a position that was under utilize. I guess you tend to forget those coaches and think Brain Kelly is picking up where Holtz left off. Charlie brought back that tight end tradition the way Holtz use to use it. Take your blinders off!!!
