would they be in the National Championship game?
Obviously they weren't undefeated, and the first thing to do is start winning more than 6 games a season. But that's a job for people like the coaches and the players. As a fan, I'm free to imagine a better world.
And unless I'm wrong, there's no way an undefeated ND would be going to the Championship game over an undefeated Bama/Texas. So I think that when the program does start winning we may be in a situation where the barrier to BCS games is fairly low (because if they can take ND they will) but the barrier to the NC game is incredibly high--like blow USC and Michigan off the field to have a shot high.
I'm not sure if this is a bad thing, especially as this team is still a while away from being physically ready to win a NC, but the slew of unbeaten teams this year got me thinking what if.
