I'm thinking of going to this game as well with my woman, and a buddy and his girl. What is awesome is that I'm really trying to get tickets to the game Sunday where the Bengals play Pittsburgh at Heinz Field as well. I'm a huge Bengals and Notre Dame fan..

I'd say we got it:boxing:

I'll let you know in the coming weeks if I'm heading out, if you all even care. If I go maybe we could all get together for some tailgating action pre game..

Just fast forwarded through the Pitt-Louisville game.

Pitt has some nice balance on offense. Gonna be a tough road test.

When we play Pitt it could be a battle of two 8-1 teams because they dont play Cincy or WVU until after us. Plus their defense is way overrated. They gave up 38 points to a NC State team that put up 3 on South Carolina

Mark May's analysis of this game... anyone? IHMM?

Hmm... something like this: "Lou, there is no way Jimmy 'Golden Boy' Clausen will be able to throw on the phenomenal Pitt defense. On the other side of the ball, Pitt's receivers are going to have a field day against a porous Notre Dame defense. Pitt by two touchdowns and a field goal."

Lou then takes his chair and Bobby Knights his ass.

That would be the greatest....thing...ever!!

He just got his first passing TD.. I don't see anything special about Pitt, there going to be a run first team when we play them and as our Dline improves I think Pitt is going to have some trouble.

Midseason review: Pittsburgh
October 20, 2009 Posted by ESPN.com's Brian Bennett

Things could be even better for Pittsburgh right now.

221.gif
The Panthers had a 31-17 lead late in the third quarter at NC State but couldn't hold on, falling 38-31. Had they won that game, they would be 7-0 right now and forcing their way into BCS title discussions.

Still, things aren't half bad. Pitt is 6-1 and the first team to get to 3-0 in Big East conference play. The two biggest question marks coming into the season, quarterback play and the running game, have caused no problems. Dion Lewis is as productive as LeSean McCoy and maybe even more so, while quarterback Bill Stull has silenced his critics through solid play.

The Panthers' potholes have come from areas no one saw as potential trouble spots: the defense and mental discipline. Pitt has given up way too many big plays, particularly against the pass, and has struggled to avoid dumb penalties.

But when a team is 6-1, that seems like nitpicking. The schedule gets tougher in the second half, but Pittsburgh is in position to accomplish big things.

Offensive MVP: Dion Lewis. The true freshman has probably been the biggest surprise in the Big East this year. He leads the league and is second in the nation in rushing yards with 918. He's averaging 5.7 yards per carry and has nine rushing touchdowns.

Defensive MVP: Mick Williams. Greg Romeus has been great at defensive end, but Williams is a constant force at defensive tackle. He already has 11.5 tackles for loss, which is a huge number for an interior tackle, and four sacks.

Bill Stull threw for two touchdowns, Dion Lewis ran for two and No. 20 Pittsburgh scored on all five possessions in the first half to rout South Florida 41-14 on Saturday and extend its best start to a season in 27 years.
The Panthers (4-0 in Big East) are 7-1 for the first time since 1982 -- Dan Marino's senior season and the last time Pitt was ranked No. 1.
They made this one look easy as Stull completed his first 11 passes against a Bulls defense that appeared geared to stopping Lewis at the start, before he took over and run for 111 yards in three quarters to push his season's total to 1,029 yards.
Lewis went into the game No. 3 nationally in rushing with a 131 yards per game average. He was pulled along with most of the Panthers' regulars with Pitt ahead 34-7. Lewis, who has five 100-yard games, is only the fourth Pitt freshman to rush for at least 1,000 yards in a season, joining Tony Dorsett (1973), Curvin Richards (1988) and LeSean McCoy (2007).
South Florida (5-2, 1-2) repeatedly hurt itself early with penalties -- the Big East's most-penalized team drew the game's first eight penalties and ended with 71 penalty yards -- and never got into an offensive rhythm, partly because Pitt kept scoring so quickly. The Bulls have been outscored 75-31 in losses to Cincinnati and Pitt after moving into the Top 25 two weeks ago.
The Bulls had as many penalty yards (40) as offensive yards (40) late in the first quarter and ended up getting outgained 486-212.
Stull, whose senior season statistics to date exceed Marino's in 1982, hit Jonathan Baldwin for completions of 40, 34 and 35 yards while repeatedly finding receivers open by several steps behind South Florida defenders. Baldwin made six catches for 144 yards

Barnburner. They will try to push us around but the Irish are a year older and tougher. I like our chances.

This game got a whole lot less interesting. If ND wins, I say Weis should keep his job at the end of the year no doubt. If he can keep the team motivated enough to beat Pitt after the Navy game, then he should stay.
