Haden Says Jimmy A Legit Heisman Candidate

Who did the other potential "candidates" play? Jimmy has better numbers against better competition.

Aye, Aye.

Time will tell its story. I think Jimmy will certainly make the final three. Let's hope so anyways. Anyone care to predict whether or not he'll be back next season? I wish we could have TG, AA, JC, Rudolph, and Floyd for just one more after this one... Now then we'd be talking top 5 preseason rankings.

all 5 WILL be back next year barring a huge meltdown and Weis being fired. ND should have a top 5 ranking depending on how they finish this year.

I respect him and that was nice but you know who he's pullin for. You can see that he enjoys Notre Dame when we are playing like we are right now. Thats what I respect him for- still He's a trojan.

Hayden likes ND, I dont think it burns him. SC/ND is a respectful rivalry. He calls it like he sees it anyway.

he can't win the Heisman without beating SC. PERIOD

This guy is smokin' the happy crack coming to our board to run his mouth about U$uC :jerkit:. The best part of USC now resides with Holt and Sarkisian in Washington. See you on the 17th poor boy.

While King is obviously lost and probably a little hungry, what did he say that was wrong and warrented your flame post? Here, I'll say it again for him.....JIMMY NEEDS TO BEAT SC IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE HEISMAN.......PERIOD.

That, you silly little man is what makes great QB's.....Beating great programs.

Easy man. I'm laid back and certainly not a "flamer." But please do respect the "don't ask, don't tell" clause.

Also, when you address a silly little man, which of the previous two posters do you imply to be silly and little? (strange, is this trolling or flaming in nature...?) So Mr. Pot, I'm Mr. Kettle, nice to meet you too.

Forgive me for asking. By the way, also please forgive me for trying to ignite a little competitive engagement of sorts. I stand corrected but less aware of definitions related to board charges, if you will.

he doesnt have to win persay; such as, if has 4 TD's, 350+ in a loss it wont hurt him. but winning obviously is the goal, and winning puts him solidly in the heisman lead.....this goes into what I said in a previous post, this is not THEE defining game in teh Weis era...this is an opportunity for Mr. Clausen to show the nation his skills.

All the analysts that do not mention Clausen in the Heisman debate (im not saying he has the be #1, but he is in the discussion) have a biased against ND, or they are just a bad analyst.

And anyone mentions Kordell stewart, I mean, Jacory Harris, just laugh in their face.....

whether Mr. Clausen gets any Heisman run or not is not the issue for me. I like the fact that ND has a QB I am confident in, and is playing VERY well. Heisman or not, Clausen is the man. I have not seen a better QB display better QB skills all year, I can confidently say this. I want him to win the heisman more so for the program and for Weis, more than for him individually.

If Clausen wins the heisman, I think that legitimizes Weis. most of the country, and a significant percentage a of Notre Dame fans, dont want that. How could they hate on him then?

This is bull and you know it....... We are ND...everyone's whipping boys. When it comes to individual awards, you'd better win, otherwise there will be no individual awards. ND is held to a different standard in the media.....especially when being put up against the "gladiators" of the SEC or Big 12.... Makes me sick, but it's true.

Would love to see Jimbo win the Heisman. That said, that may push him out the door to be a bust for the Rams. Might not be a good career move. Get hosed, come in 3rd, and come back to shock the world in 2010.

A two loss ND athlete would never get it over a 0-1 loss SEC athlete EVER. The media would never let it happen. Bias is our enemy.

Theater of the mind- I'd like to sit down with Hayden and talk Notre Dame off the record. His insight would be interesting and I respect him. He has beat us and we have beat him and knocked him on his @$$. I would love to know what he thinks of where we were and where we are going. You can tell by what he says he sees the athletes piling up and the balance of talent shifting.

Possibly true considering the bias of ESPN and company for QBs sitting on the sidelines while their teams play cupcakes. Clausen is playing like the best football player (check the NCAA stats) despite his injury and against tougher competition per Sagarin.

IF you're right and Jimmy and teammates comes up short against USC by your premise, Locker would then get the Heisman by default.

BTW, you may want to revise those USC Bragging claims from "46 Bowl Appearances - 11 National Championships - 7 Heisman Trophy Winners" to:
  • 49 Bowl Appearances per College Football Data Warehouse, 34 of which were played within 8 miles of campus. You guys do travel well to your "home" games.
  • 10 National Championships per College Football Data Warehouse. Are you using the Alabama counting system by any chance?
  • 7 Heisman Trophy Winners and it only took us another 20 years to match Notre Dame's 7 Heisman Trophy Winners.
  • And you might want to add that USC's 33 wins over Notre Dame more than any other team.
  • You don't have to mention that USC's 42 losses to Notre Dame are 14 more than to any other team. (Tell me how hard it is playing in the Pac 10)
  • And you might want to add 7 Wins In A Row Over Notre Dame, the Second Longest Winning Streak In The Series History only trailing ND's 11 Wins In A Row Over USC (in a 13 year Unbeaten Streak).

It's only been this way for a few years. In 1987, Syracuse went 11-0-1, while ND went 8-4. Yet Tim Brown beat out Syracuse QB Don MacPherson for the Heisman. Brown won every region, except for the NorthEast. For you younger guys (not sure if you are in this category or not, HereComeTheIrish), you have to remember that some of the hate for ND is valid, when viewed with an objective eye. ND often got the benefit of the doubt, in the college football world. They were known for rising to any occassion, and overcoming any odds. So they were often given accolades that they may, or may not, have earned. I can understand the anger at the current backlash against ND, but let's quit playing the victim here.

Wasn't playing victim at all.....just providing the current state of what is reality and what isn't.

I'm sorry JC will have to beat SCUm to have a good shot at the Heisman. The media gets a hard on for Tebow and will find any excuse to weed out the other contenders. ND will have to win out and JC keep playing like he is playing for him to have a shot. JMO

For Jimmy to win the Heisman this year, ND has to beat SC, HAS TO. As for where he might up end? Could you believe of all teams... The Browns? I feel bad for Quinn and that he isn't going too far in the NFL, but you know your time is up when you are benched behind a guy who throws 2 for 17.

Rumourmill is that the Browns are trying to trade Quinn and setup for another QB this year, or next year in the draft.
