Thought we would start a list to keep up with who is on what list. I don't put much into this preseason list as they name a ton of players. I think I saw my grandma on the Mackey list.

Kyle Rudolph is the only sophomore on the Mackey list.

That's nice to know. Both Michael Floyd and Golden Tate will make the Watch List for the Biletnikoff.

I'm kind of curious why Clausen was left off the Unitas Watchlist. I hope he uses it for motivation.

Golden Tate was named to the 30-man Walter Camp Foundation Player of the Year Watch List.

The field gets narrowed to 10 semifinalists in November, with the winner being announced Dec. 10.

I really think Floyd or tate will be a finalist for the all the top receivers awards out there. This offense should not be stopped this year.

The Walter Camp Foundation Player of the Year is simply for the best player that year regardless of position. It's considered to be considerably less political than the Heisman which has long suffered from regional voting bias, people voting early before all the games are played, and ESPN bias.

ND winners include Ken MacAfee and Rocket. Neither won a Heisman, MacAfee finished 3rd in '77 and Ismail finished 2nd in '90.

MacAfee was in the Heisman Race?

Which means so will Clausen.

Absolutely. Clausen's going to turn some heads this year.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - University of Notre Dame junior kicker Brandon Walker was one of 30 players selected to the 2009 Lou Groza Award watch list, presented each year to college football's best place kicker.
Notre Dame's first left-footed kicker since Harry Oliver in 1981, Walker has improved throughout his collegiate career and enters 2009 having converted 13 of his last 17 field goal attempts. Walker has made 20 of 36 field goals in his career and 61 of 62 point-after touchdowns. He enters 2009 having made 58 straight PATs, the fifth-best total in Notre Dame history. Walker currently ranks second in career PAT percentage at Notre Dame.
In 2008, Walker overcame a sluggish start to the season and made 13 of 17 kicks to end the year and 14 of 24 attempts for the entire season. He converted all 39 PATs en route to leading the Irish with 81 points. Walker made a career-best four field goals vs. Pittsburgh and seven PATs vs. Hawaii in 2008.
More than 300 media representatives, coaches, past recipients, conference and university officials make up the voting panel which selects the recipient of the Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicking Award. The Award will be presented on Dec. 10, 2009, as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards program. The three finalists will be honored at the 18th annual Lou Groza Award Banquet to be held at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. on Tuesday, Dec. 8.

I suspect their will be groans from more than a couple of ND fans about Walker consideration for the best kicker award. He started out under difficult conditions but overcame the adversity to excel in the second half of last season. He was just about the only offense ND had against PIT in those OTs.

Looking at the Groza Watchlist I only see 3of NDs opponents having a kicker listed CON, MSU and PU.

Special Teams - Advantage Notre Dame!
