According to IrishIllustrated, Kamara's been spending extra time after practice working on his game. He seems really, really committed to getting himself ready for the season, a sure sign of improvement. So much for his lack of work ethic. I'm excited.

i never thought his lack of production last year was due to work ethic. he seemed to be going all out on most plays. he looked like more of a nervous wreck than anything else, like he was thinking too much. he just needs to relax and play his game rather than pressing so much.

He had hands of stone last season, I'm sure he knows he has to step it up to get pt. He has Goodman, Walker, Evans, etc, that will push him.

If Kamara could catch, the fade would be unstoppable...Just imagine this red zone situation: Kamara and Floyd on the outside, and Tate and Goodman/Walker/Shaq on the inside...How do you stop that?

Yeah, I've never been a big fan. He was a good receiver his freshman year, but he still had the dropsies. And he had no competition for the job. Tate could only run the go, Parish was too slow, West was injury prone, and Floyd was still in h.s. Last year, tate worked his ass off and became an All-American candidate, and Floyd showed up and proved he belonged. Meanwhile, Kamara showed up so fat and out of shape that he was given a lineman's jersey #. How embarrassing is that???

I don't blame people for backing the kid. I could be wrong here. I hope I am. But last year, he had 'manos de piedra' (hands of stone). He cost JC at least 3-4 picks. Balls thrown right to him would bounce off of him and into a defender's arms. And what kills me about him, is that he doesn't attack the ball a la Tate and Floyd. W/ Tate, any 50-50 ball is either his or it's on the floor. He simply doesn't allow his man to pick the ball off. I remember one play, I believe against MI St, JC threw a beautiful fade to Kamara, his 6'5" stud, and Kamara got his hands on the ball, only to let the DB outmuscle him for the ball. I wanted to kill someone.

I hope you guys are right about Kamara. But personally, i have my endzone guys: tate, who can outjump and outfight anyone for the ball, and Floyd, who can position himself perfectly for any fade. Adding Kamara would be great, and I hope his newfound work ethic pays off...

He made one or two near miraculous catches his freshman year, one of them I think against Purdue. He has shown the capability. Last year was a "scratch your head, wtf?" year.

But he has shown the capability. I'm rooting for the guy. He has pro potential. He just needs to step up and prove himself.

I think he will.

The 'Cuse game last drive. 1st down, deep pass to Kamara, drop. Second down, deep pass to Kamara, drop. 3rd down, deep pass to Tate, catch first down Irish. If Kamera had caught the first ball, we could have got another play or two off and had a more makeable fg, instead we had to kick a 40+, that was on target, Walker just didn't have the leg. I remember walking down the steps at the stadium and thinking, GD Kamara why do you have to suck so much. If Floyd had suited up neither of the first two would have gone to Kamera and I think we would have had a better chance.

I hope you are all right. He has the frame to be a stud. Now he just has to learn to catch. Easy enough.

Nice to see you back to your old self. I really hope we don't lose you in Nov. There is no need to lie, the 'Cuse game was in the heart of hunting season, no one blames you for not want to make any noise in the thicket. The Win 30/30 was comin' for you.............

have you watched our O-Line play?

I agree that Kamara is potentially a nightmare matchup in the redzone. Remember his TD catch against Michigan?

He was one-on-one against Morgan Trent, Michigan's worst defensive back...still it was a nice catch.

Anyone remember that one drive against North Carolina, Duval's shining moment in his sophomore season? He just about single-handedly kept us alive that drive, he made something like 4 catches for 50 yards or some such. I want to see that all season long.

Bought 3 baggies of Cracker Jacks (gift inside) last year. The Purdue game, MSU game, and bowl game. Missed all 3 games. Something bout a sugar rush helps me sleep like a baby. I woke up in a fetal position sucking my thumb each time.

Wow. Its shameful how a lot of you just throw this kid under the bus after a down season. He was our #1 target 2 years ago and a lot of you were saying he was the second coming. Give the kid a chance. He has ability and talent but can that turn into consistancy? We'll see.

If he earns the coveted third receiver spot, he will have a ridiculous junior season, with all of the secondary's attention focused on the Dynamic Duo.

Agreed. Kamara will be a lost man on a lot of scouting reports at least early on in the season...With that said, Walker and Goodman are licking their chops at the chance of being "the forgotton guy."

You aren't saying much when you type "On the last play of scrimmage, Clausen hit Kamara on a 30 yard TD pass". It reveals nothing.

I have never fell of the Kamara Band Wagon. He had a Sophomore slump and will bounce back hard this year! I think he gets the 3rd receiver spot and is the second leading receiver next year behind Floyd. I am not taking anything away from Tate but I just think DK will be that damn good next year.

I played football in college, and for me, my freshman year was easier because you don't really know what you are doing, expectations are low for you. The coaches generally ride you in practices, but when you get put into a game situation, the plays are dumbed down for you (your role) so it is easier to play. You play off of instinct more than scheme. Sophomore year is more difficult because the coaches expect you to be consistantly productive while learning the system even more. I had a tough time my soph year handling expectations i set my fresh year. I didn't know why I had success as a frosh, and as a sophomore you just expect to have the same easy production. It wasn't until my junior year it all came together, with consistancy, scheme flexibility, and playing fast. I think he will be much much better this year, just from personal experience. The issue for him is the Irish are deep at Wideout and he could get lost in the shuffle. Look for him to be much better, but will it be enough to unseat Goodman, Deon, Robbie, Shaq...time will only tell! GO IRISH
