Julius Jones, Ricky Waters, The Bus, Brooks, I liked them all. The Rocket wasn't bad either.

Many great backs. The recent ones named are probably the best but you go back to the 30s and 40s and find some good ones too. I never saw them though. Did anyone mention Vagas Ferguson? He was pretty good.

Honestly I cant argue with that. But that run in the late 80s thru the early to mid 90s with Watters, Brooks, Brooks, Bettis, is a grand time in Irish RB history.

I go with

Reggie Brooks

Ricky Waters

Lee Becton

Julius Jones

Jerome Bettis

Julius Jones would be the best IF tyrone wasnt his coach his last 2 years.

I'd have to say Reggie Brooks, Bettis, Denson, Jones, Edwards in no particular order.

Watch the lick Marc Edwards lays about 2:40 into the video.

goldandblue, he was straight up the friggen gut. Smash-mouth. Everyone either had a hat on someone or was looking for a mouth to smash. I never realized how good and fast Edwards was until this video.

Geez. All I want to do right now after watching the Brooks and Edwards video is run out and smash opposing traffic.

Just for fun.

I think I should just sit and have me an ice cold bubbly.

Might be a better idea.

Here's one...

Hmm... best RB

Hmm... best RB

I gotta go with Vagas Ferguson. I am a bit biased as he is my cousin ;)

He is the reason I am a Domer for LIFE!

I hope it will be Cierre Wood though. Wouldn't that be exciting?

This is for NDOM, and it kinda pains me, but ...

Certainly Brooks and Bettis, I will never forget the run Bettis made against Florida. Amazing that both were in the same backfield. Allen Pinkett, Autry Denson, Let's not forget Vegas Fergusen. There was another RB I think in the backfield with Fergusen, that was very good in his own right. I can't for the life of me think of his name. I am spacing it right now. Yes, Lee Becton and Ricky Waters were good as well.

Has Julius Jones been mentioned? He was electric...Also always respected the way he came back and showed so much character. The kid was the last back we've had that after some of his runs, I would say "wow."

Good call on Culver, Leahy. I hate to admit that I forgot about him. He was a bowling ball.

Allen Pinkett.

One of the best backs ever. I just saw the movie "Rudy" last night. It ends with a quote saying no ND player has been carried off since Rudy.

Allen Pinkett was carried off by his teammates.
