NFL, girls, weather, girls, NFL.
The neighborHOOD around USC is very much da 'hood. It's everything you see on TV and more. Last year a h.s. football stud was walking down the street after school in South Central L.A., was asked where he was from and when he responded that he didn't gangbang, he was shot and killed (mistaken identity). It became a national story because he was a stud and a good kid and his dad was a marine, but crap like this happens waaaaaayyyy too much. And it happens around the USC campus a lot more than the national media knows. Just about a month ago my school was on lockdown because a USC student was stabbed and killed after partying all night.
But inside USC, you feel very, very safe. It's like it's own little world. And I give credit to USC's outreach porgrams, which help the community. I get to see the good side of U$C students, and fortunately for society they're not all trust-fund babies and/or frat-pricks (another reason I love ND - no frats). And it's beautiful outside like 80% of the year. And again, the women, my Lord. I can't understate that enough when you're an 18 yr old kid.
I personally wouldn't want my kids going to school there, but I don't blame any player for going there. You have a dynamic head coach whose team is always top 5 and who gets his players to the NFL; you're basically the pro team in town (as huge as L.A.!!!!!), so you're treated like a star (just ask Leinart and Bush); the weather, and the women.
Thank God T'eo doesn't seem to be interested in that stuff, so we have somewhat of a shot...
