i love seeing these guys enroll early. it helps so much to be able to get acustomed to college life and get on the weight program not to mention it helps bring them closer to the team. he will be able to match up against college recievers in spring ball and gain more experience as a db. hell of a job coaches and staff and what a great choice by the young man. congrats to staff and his family and him. AND ALL OF US NOTRE DAME FANATICS

E. J. Banks is Irish...that's great news as I think this kid is going to make ND proud.

Banks being an EE is huge, the kid has all the tools to be a great DB but him being a QB IMO has and will set him back come some as a CB just from all the effort it takes playing QB and at this point at a CB he's more of a project and there is no doubt that getting to South Bend to participate in spring ball will expedite his transition to CB.

What a day! I just got back from a great round of golf and logged on to IE and saw that Banks committed. I'm stoked about him. From watching his highlight video, I noticed 2 things that stood out:

1) He seems to have excellent speed and he gets around the corner extremely fast. There were a few times where it looked like he was running straight out of bounds and then he turned it up the sideline and burned everyone else.

2) He has excellent balance. There is a play at about mid-way through his video where he gets tripped up and stumbles down to his hands, but his knees never touch and he regains his balance quickly and darts straight ahead for a TD.

I think he could challenge early for return duties based on what I saw. If he plays offense, he could be deadly on screens. I'm excited about this commitment!

Glad to see another PA player on the roster. He looks like he will be a good one. I believe he was originally in the Rivals top 100, but both rivals and scout bury players if they dont participate in the big time camps.

From the announcements I've read, it looks like he was drafted strictly as a CornerBack. He obviously has the athleticism to play other positions, though. So who knows.

I'm pretty excited about this one. I don't know why, but, getting him to commit to us over tOSU, is a pretty good pickup in my opinion. Welcome to the family EJ!!!!!

The kid is a very good athlete. He needs to bulk up, luckily for him he has time on his side. One of my favorite prospects in our class so far.

Glad he joined the ND family. Also as an EE will get more practice time. He is going to need awhile to get ready, but with the kids already on campus he doesn't need to be rushed.

Good pickup for you guys.

I always thought of him more as a WR rather than a DB. He seems to have pretty good ball skills.

I don't think any school would rule out a player at a position before they arrived on campus. Many recruiting people believe he would end up on the defensive side of the ball, and that seems to be ND staff's idea as well. But if he turns out to be that good with the ball, they would be unwise to keep him off the field if he was in a long line at DB.

He's a nice solid addition. Given our season last year he gives hope to continued good recruiting this year.

We will need him at DB though. We are going to get hit by big graduations soon.

Interview taken from a Pittsburgh Paper.

THE DUMBEST PART OF RECRUITING IS ... "Probably having to talk to all the recruiting people from all the Web sites like Rivals. They really bother you a lot and ask you a lot of dumb stuff. I just really don't like dealing with them at all."

Maybe thats why he is only a 3 star. The first thing I look at when judging a player is their offer list not at how many stars they have. And his offer list says a lot.

Regardless of where he plays, Banks will be a special player at ND.
