for what it is worth, the background on his myspace page has been osu themed since his first visit there this year, and that was a few months ago.

Dropping Michigan from the list concerns me as far as our chances with him. Andrew is very interested in earning a degree in business and Notre Dame's and Michigan's highly ranked undergraduate colleges of business was a big draw for him. With UM's dismissal, maybe Andrew is looking into other priorities right now. Notre Dame still has a shot, but not with the same assuredness given to anOSU fans.

I really don't think Michigan is indicative of his preferences. I think that's reading into something that isn't there.

To me, my guess is that ND just looks better than Michigan to him, from a football opportunity and a business school standpoint - not to mention while being closer to home. Keeping Michigan around would be a bit redundant, so I think its that UM didn't stack up to ND, in this case, its that simple.

When you announce two of your top three, and reveal the 3rd later... that tells me its a two horse race.

The only thing Notre Dame has over Michigan is the slkightly better potential at the title with it's back to back top 10 recruiting classes. For Andrew, Notre Dame is already far away enough from home to consider 'far,' Notre Dame sits in the same boat as Michigan for this one. As far as undergraduate business schools, the lists him and I were looking at listed Michigan's school higher than Notre Dame's every time, although only by one or two spots. This definitely helped UM get called into his top three. With the elimination of one of these academic geared schools it means that Notre Dame will have to show off its glitz and glam to compete with the Buckeyes which is the basis for my concern.

maybe the uncertainty of Carr's situation at michigan had something to do with him dropping michigan since the rumors are that Carr is done after this year.

i don't read too much into him dropping michigan, i was more suprised to see fla off of it

My sentiments exactly. We're all entitled to our opinions, but I think the last thing we should be reading into with Sweat is him dropping Michigan.

Good point, marv. I haven't read much on Michigan's situation. Has that developed into anything substantiated?

As far as Florida goes, there is a growing number of recruits, Andrew included that are being turned off by the questionable methods practiced in Gainesville.

As far as I know, it is all speculation that this will be it for Carr, and with Carr's wonderful relationship with the media, nothing has been said, that I have seen and/or heard about, has been said to quiet that rumor.

I think Carr has said about 2 or 3 months ago that he will be at Michigan and this isn't his last year.

This definitely would be an excellent surprise though it may not be far fetched if it happened. Here's to wishful thinking.

More importantly, his mom is meeting with the OSU coaches for the first time today.

Andrew's mom was not feeling well and did not go to OSU on Saturday. Also, Andrew is quoted as saying that he probably won't visit ND either, and he will probably commit to a school soon.

Probably is mentioned a few times. If the quote is accurate, it seems to me that Andrew has still not made up his mind, and probably will not until right before he decides to announce. As the dark horse in this match race, I consider that to be good news for ND, and ever the optimist, the Irish still have a shot here, and will until, and if, Andrew Sweat announces otherwise.

I haven't post here AS (after Svo) for a variety of reasons but I feel compelled to post this:

Pg. 198 of ND's 2006 Media Guide under the heading Compliance reads in part
Who is a Representative of Notre Dame's Athletics Interests?

You are if:
You are an enrolled student or graduate of the University
.
.
.
Prospective Student-Athlete
Dont's
You may not
write e-mail or telephone a prospective student-athlete or his/her parents in an effort to reccruit them to Notre Dame

make contact with a prospective student-athlete or his/her parents when the prospect is on-campus for an official or unofficial visit

and the last line in bold
ask before you act!

Contact with recruits is VERY DANGEROUS - swimming in shark infested waters while bleeding kind of dangerous.

guff-

I always freak out a little when I read threads like yours because I start to think about whether or not members of the Notre Dame staff troll boards like this and stomp down the occasional fires...

That's why everything I write is above the belt.

My guess is they do. "Representative of Notre Dame's Athletics Interests" is broadly defined. Most of us probably qualify

After a little consideration and a nudge from a respected colleague, I have the following to say.

I appreciate everyone's concern regarding this matter. It has not been the first time it has been brought up and I am fully aware of the rules and regulations.

However, it should be noted that I have never contacted a prospect "in an effort to recruit them to Notre Dame," as has been noted and is apparent in all of my threads. Contact between prospective students and enrolled students is not an uncommon or new phenomena and can be witnessed in full spring on Myspace, through instant messenger, and primarily through Facebook.

Furthermore, the thread in TDJ outlined contact between enrolled and prospective students by the NCAA and it's main qualifier was if I was told to do so by a representative of Notre Dame's athletic interests or by the coaching staff, neither of which represents my situation.

So while I appreciate the heads up and will be much more cautious in my demeaner around here and around recruits, I would also appreciate a bit of level headed perspective on the situation at hand and a little less accusational tonage. If you or anyone has any further misunderstanding concerning this matter, you are more than welcome to respectfully bring it to my attention on private messaging instead of bringing yet another recruiting profile off topic.

Respectfully, Jason.

Well with Andrew planning to announce soon I would have to say this is probably a break, or make visit.

also, wanted to mention that he said he liked osu's proximity to home (columbus is only about 2 and a half hours from where he lives) and he liked the academics at nd.
