His office gave a guy that pled guilty to sexually assaulting a 16 year old a deal that only required him to serve 30 days of a 60 day sentence. Paxton gave him an Epstein style get out of jail free card for a crime that carries 25 to life in Texas.

Apparently all you need is a deadlocked jury and Paxton isn't interested in retrying. Yes the victims mom who says she was strong armed into agreeing with the deal. Which they were trying to go even lower on chalking it up to timed served before the judge had to push back.

The judge, expressing concern over the leniency of the agreement, and noting that the victim’s mother spoke out against the lenient deal during sentencing, increased the jail term to 60 dyas.60 days.


While prosecutors later touted the agreement, taking credit for having “secured jail time,” the victim’s mother told the The Texas Tribune that the prosecutors had recommended the time served deal and informed her they could proceed with the agreement without her approval, though they “would like [her] to agree with it.”
