Agree as well. Sesay is an awesome prospect. Vaughn feels like an Abdul Carter clone. With him and the other 4, plus Dunham and Ewetade.
If we can secure all 6? Fantastic. I am just saying I would love to get the interior pressure of Folorunsho and Fakatou. Not opposed to taking the Indiana DE in this case either

Sesay and Vaughn are similar and if Vaughn gets Fakatou, I’m down. In order of importance for me:

Folo (best of the bunch)
Parks (only true 1T)
Vaughn (sky high ceiling)
Sesay
Fakatou

I have an unpopular opinion: if we HAD to. I would take Sesay’s money to secure Folorunsho and Fakatou assuming Vaughn is in. 5 man dl class and take some other $ for a LB
I get what you're saying but I think we will see $ saved elsewhere. I believe money is going to be saved in the WR & TE class. While I love the RB class we have, they aren't huge $ guys either. I just think money saved elsewhere is going to add up.

IMO They need to be greedy when it comes to the DL, it's been a struggle to get consistent top talent especially at NT/DT. Take, take, take let the chips fall where they may.

I agree if the $ is there, do it. All I am saying is that if push comes to shove, securing Folorunsho is my top goal for this DL cycle

I get that but what I'm saying is that I believe many of us here at one point thought we had a good chance to get Spell, Dollar & Driver. While it sucks missing out on them money was saved that we thought was going to them. Hawk and other than JJ Jr the WR class isn't going to break the bank. Where the money might get tight is if we get the DL class we want along with Oluwasemilore Olubobola, Albert Simien and Kaden Henderson wanting in.

I’m working on the assumptions we have no idea how much these guys actually get and how much we have to spend. If there was a cap, would be easier!

Very excited about what Partridge is going to bring to the unit. He looks so focused and intense at all times. Love the experience factor and reports indicate he is a superstar in coaching the unit. He has a surplus of talent in the 2026 ND defensive line. Loaded.

Have we ever seen a coach come in late, not from college, and just put position recruiting in a chokehold?

I know there are other factors but whatever reason the pods keep saying has made the LB coach in a tough spot, Partrige is setting the new bar for immediate success. What he’s doing is unseen.

IMO we would be in the same spot with all the DL recruits if Washington was still the coach

Very good chance that is the case.

I'm not a Washington basher by any stretch, nor was I ever, but Aidan O'Neill's timeline suggests that got moving when Partridge was hired and rubber hit the road there. That is one example and could be the only example, but it felt like that one accelerated to an eventual commitment because of Coach P.

O’Neil I agree would be the one that maybe had a tangible impact. But I know we were in a good spot with Vaughn regardless. Good even better spot with Fakatou. Good with Sesay - the addition of the PSU staffers have been a major difference in the same time period. IMO would have been good with Folo. Good with Parks.

Don't disagree but that's an easier spot than coming from the NFL and having zero contact with any of these elite guys we're leading for.

I think we would be in a very similar position DL recruiting if Washington was not here. However, with some of these closer recruiting battles, Partridge may be able to tip things in our favor because of his proven track record of success. I also have more faith in Partridge to help these kids reach their ceiling.

Furthermore, I think the O'Neil interest picked up once we got the Penn State guys on staff. They had a previous relationship with him. An article discussed how they showed Partridge 28 DE Cam Toomey's film. Then he got offered.

I think the 2027 and 2028 DL cycles are going to be the best judgement of Partridge from a recruiting standpoint (assuming he is at ND and DL coach during that time). He has certainly stepped into a good situation having only been on the job for a few months.

I do think having him in only helps with closing these guys who are on the board, and he's about as good of a teacher at the position as is out there. Again, not a knock against Coach Wash by any stretch. I never took issue with him like others did. I do think that Partridge is about as good of a hire as they could have made and it will pay long term dividends the longer he stays around.

I agree.

Partridge has also been a DL coach for a vast majority if his career. It is the position he played in college and coached predominantly on his resume. Washington spent some time as a coach going back and forth as a DL and LB coach, which has been well documented in previous discussions. He was hired by the Dolphins as an LB coach.

Partridge has a niche at this position as a recruiter, coach and teacher. If other guys on the staff point him in the direction of a player, all the better. That's what happens more than we realize when it comes to recruiting and player evaluation. Especially if it is being done right. Collaboration is key.

I compared Partridge to a tenured professor who teaches Grad level classes. Washington is undergrad. Both are good, but just one has the pedigree needed right now

Very good analogy. Having him on the staff is an absolute coup and made possible by his history with Chris Ash, a hire so many of us were skeptical about from the jump.
