How to fix College Football?

I'd rather hear from some current older college coaches "who've seen it all" and, as nearing retirement, have less ax to grind. This would include coaches of Olympic sports and things like LAX, Hockey, Track&Field etc.
Older coaches are currently showing they're just grumpy about the situation and want things back to the way they were back when they were just getting started. A sprinkle or two of old guys is ok, but there needs to be people with a fresh perspective that understand that times are changing whether they like it or not. That might be why it's good to have some of the guys like (Bryson, Tebow, etc.) to give a fresh perspective and will look at things from a student-athletes perspective. Not sure they're the two I'd pick, but need somebody in that generation that now has experience from the financial/economic side of things rather than just old coaches who were ok for years making millions of $$ off of student-athletes.

I'd keep every active athletic director and conference commissioner out of it. None of them can be even remotely unbiased. Every single one of them will be unabashedly trying to help their conference and their conference only.

No ADs and no commissioners equals a waste of time in my opinion. Think tanks with no "teeth" end up as paper tombstones on some shelf. If there are good ideas, having "power people" already somewhat signed off is a sign that amore serious stages two will happen.

ADs and commissioners right now are so corrupt with money that I would be very hesitant to get them involved. They are way too narrow minded on thinking what is best for the entire product and instead only think about what is best for them and their buddies. Basically a mini version of politicians.

Oh no I’m getting voted down because I’m brining up the evil shit our commander in chief is doing while he’s supposedly trying to fix college sports. The only thing he’s capable of doing is getting people in a room and bombing it. Maybe Tebow should be scared.

On the board… We don’t need this thread turning into a pissing match because people get emotional. It really is simple.
Keep everyone out of it.
Define 4 regions - SE, West of the Rocky Front Slope, East of Mississippi, Midwest
Hold a lottery for 5 fans from each region
Let these 20 fans fight it out

Guarantee you will get something better than Saban or any network exec or any politician could come up with.
It may get bloody like the 2nd triumvirate picking out the proscriptions, but even that is more likely to be fair to all parties.

Take that discussion to the politics threads. There's one specifically for Trump where you can have at it.

The NCAA needs legislation so they can actually do things without getting wrecked in court.

Not super confident they'll get that done but I suspect that's a big reason they brought in Charlie Baker.

God, I love Godfrey on this.

A lot of pro-meritocracy, small government bros are asking for a ton of government intervention, here. So, I guess they forgot their Ronald Regan quote pamphlet.

I'm kind of shocked. They keep turning to DC for a solution.

Same people asking why their best staff leave when they give them 2% raises lol
Recently got a job offer for only a 2% raise, they were befuddled when I turned it down and couldn't understand why I thought it wasn't worth it to learn a whole new environment. They thought I should be happy with the 2% and better title and more responsibilities

That is a really good episode top to bottom. Folks should listen to it if they have any interest in 'THE STATE OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL" (tm) and its governance.

Their pod is almost always damn good.
