Coach Free's is a class act anytime he is in front of the camera; he will be a class act Monday night and provide class act answers if ESPN tries to bate him in.

He is a great representation for the University of Notre Dame; if Kelly was our coach would he have been asked?

He’s being too kind (as usual) in saying we shouldn’t have been in over Bama. I’m sure the man to his left had some influence on his verbiage there.

It's true that the late shifts in the rankings, especially Bama jumping us, were not responsive to actual events on the field. Did anyone watch Bama play Auburn? Or OU play LSU? And then when Bama got smoked by UGA, ND (not Bama) drops again? Huh? The contrived explanations obviously suggested that there was a pre-determined outcome, e.g., both Bama and OU would be in at 10-2 (or 10-3 with the SECCG loss). But to be clear -and I'm sure MF thinks this, but didn't say it- we deserved to be ahead of both Bama and OU regardless of any previous ranking.

Oh, and the "head-to-head is decisive" argument -although reasonable, even if it not applied consistently- wasn't really made in good faith, imo. I am convinced that Miami got in because UVA lost, not because of the head-to-head.

And yeah, ESPN controls the sport and so MF can't go on the show and attack them to their face. Better not to turn up than to do that.

ESPN / Disney controls the sport and playoff process. As long as teams are chosen arbitrarily, It’s unwise to piss them off in our independent position.

The ACC on the other hand has zero power. Which is why Pete B felt so comfortable calling them out.

apparently this is some inside joke. Am I missing something? Or is it just him quoting the movie Fight Club?
I think they are making fun of the recent situation with the wrestling coach. But it still isn't entirely clear to me, and I think Saban and Herbstreit didn't get it either.

He really should’ve told ESPN to eat a bag of dicks rather than be on there after the way they treated us. Freeman is a nice person & wouldn’t do that but that, but fuck ESPN & all of those guys who tow the line on gameday.

Nah, he’s playing the long game. Can’t wait to hear the locker room talk pre-game when he’s reminding them to “Leave no doubt”

On one hand, I like poking fun of the situation, mainly because Freeman wasn't the asshole in this and he handled it well, but from Marcus' perspective, I doubt it's very funny, especially considering his son had to endure that kind of harassment from a supposed grown ass man. It also probably caused him and his family a lot of grief with the story going on in the background and certain "journalists" trying to take advantage of the breaking story and making it out as something it wasn't.

I think it's easy to, as a fan, hate that he's chuckling with the king board of chuckle-fucks....but if I think about how this looks like to anyone that isn't a Notre Dame fan? Freeman looks like the coolest fucking coach in America.

He’s truly a title away from replacing Saban as the face of the sport. He’s already the most respected by his peers according to that athletic poll.

Look, you might hate your boss but it would be stupid to go into his office and shit on his desk if you want to keep your job. ESPN is the boss of college football unfortunately, and Freeman has to play nice with them.

It is just annoying because all of this was completely forseeable. ESPN has controlled the sport for a long time. And ND yet has some inexplicable loyalty to NBC which is irrelevant and produces a subpar product. If ND went with ESPN years ago ND would be the face of the sport.

Exactly. If he stays home and complains, the rest of the college football world looks at him the way we look at Narduzzi.

This is offseason is going to be long. I'm sure time will move relatively fast but the waiting for Notre Dame Football is going to feel like time is dragging. I'm really anxious to see this team play again.
