It’s called sarcasm and humor. Just trying to help provide a fun environment for everyone. If you don’t like it then ignore my posts.
Didn't realize that pulling something from Google images is what passes for a fun environment and humor. My apologies.

Yikes, if you’re posting in IE, who is watching hell?

Deepest and most sincere apologies to our chosen greatest ND fan of all time. Your love of ND surely does inspire others not to have a giggle. You are IEs greatest gift.

I’m confused, is he committed and not signed or not committed and we are the favorites?

People have signed and committed. The staff is keeping it quiet just like last year.
Remember this every time you feel the need to panic.

If I'm wrong, then in ten days you can blame me for your failures.
Jimmy would you like to make a ban bet??? Those are all the rage these days…

What is the reason for this if they're already signed?

But seriously. I think they've signed 2-4 players already, but still need to add more. By announcing names, it shows weakness by letting other teams, agents, and schools know what slots have already been filled. Why add those extra road blocks to appease fans?

They probably have a DT, WR, and maybe an edge locked up, but still need another DT and kicker.

I've also wondered if they are keeping it quiet so guys on the team don't know and decide to enter the portal if they feel their spot is in jeopardy.
I think it has more to do with that and also relatedly, keeping agents from knowing so that they don't spend a lot of time hounding our players that could see diminished playing time because of a portal addition.

I think this is the answer. They did the same things with Jarrard and Grubbs, kept the reclassification under wraps until after NSD.

In regards to McKinney, there’s a real shot he’s an upgrade to Christian Gray, who is in his last year of eligibility and would rightfully feel slighted.

I totally agree that this could be an element of the plan. Keep everything quiet, knowing that there isn't a Spring Portal, so you can bring as many guys in as possible to compete and create depth and no risk losing guys the Portal or having them ask for a lot more money to stay.

Tricking players into staying doesn't seem like a very good idea to me.

This is exactly my thoughts. It’s actually a smart strategy. There is no way MF is going to not get who we need and not have us set up for a title next year. Have we missed on targets yes but we were never going to get them all. I remember someone posting the other day there are guys on campus visiting that no one knew about. The beat doesn’t know shit. A lot of smoke and mirrors. I want all the info like everyone else but it’s just not smart. I think we will all be happy in the end.

Other teams may also waste time speaking to, hosting, or otherwise recruiting commits that have already committed to Notre Dame.

It’s the recruiting equivalent of masking injury reports the week before a game. Knowledge is power. Why give other teams knowledge of what you’re doing?

Many commits in the same day, or several in a few day stretch, will also get people talking and improve the overall perception of the program, which can have a domino effect.

If this is what we’re doing, I love the approach.

I don’t see how it’s sustainable, but they’ve done it in the past. Maybe not to this extent of secrecy.
I doubt they have. ND just hasn’t landed anyone. I am confident the player themselves would announce it if they committed/signed.
