Any smoke to CJ Hicks and ND? What are the boards thoughts on Hicks? Didn’t seem to gain that extra gear at OSU and they moved him to DE. He was a 5* out of high school.

Guessing OSU but this kid is a stud

Perich will be one of the best players in the Transfer Portal without a doubt. Would it shock me if he's plug-n-play for Caleb Downs? Not at all.

If ND wasn't talented and deep at safety I'd go all in for him. Definite difference maker. Fortunately, we have two studs back there and quality, exciting deoth behind them.

Would be my #1 DT based on who's declared.
Ryan Roberts reported the other day that an agent he knows told him that Notre Dame was heavily pursuing a starting Big 10 defensive tackle that had not yet been named as a portal entry.

I'd be shocked if Gilliam isn't the guy he was talking about. Fits the description to a "T".

Living in the twin cities and having 2 kids at UMN I’ve seen multiple games where he’s made game changing plays! Local radio has him looking for a big payday. Can’t blame him!! Thought they might loose their stud edge Smith but looks like he’s staying.
Also, go Wild😉

Not to mention 3 years of eligibility
I really like Gilliam's game and he has a lot of upside left. Dude is still yiung and developing. Xavier Gilliam + Mateen Igbirogba would be a Barry Bonds prime PEDs style moon shot as far as Portal acquisitions are concerned. Especially when you account for positional need.

A pair of already developed 300lb'ers with some length and proven production. Music to my ears.

He started 2 games and played in all 13 games for the nitts….i guess that would count as a “starting” B1G DT

Even if he's rotational, ND will roll 4 bodies through those 2 positions so his role would be similar.

Get me Onye (threaten a massive lawsuit), Gilliam and Igbirogba to add to Hughes and the defensive interior is right back to where it needs to be with ND's elite back 7 supporting them. Finish the defensive Portal class by going Big Game hunting for a DE to replace Burnham and you'll have a top 5 defense nationally.

Yea I agree bud. If we pair Gilliam with Ihbirogba that would be good. I completely agree with your other post as well about his upside. Adding both of those guys would give us some much needed beef up front.

I’m on the optimistic side that the NCAA will approve Onye’s waiver. No inside info, just my opinion.

A good list of some of the top entries to the portal and who's in the mix for them. Nothing surprising for ND. Marsh mentioned with LSU in the mix and Gilliam from Penn St. IU, Oklahoma, Missouri, A&M, and LSU mentioned for Gilliam as well.

Former Iowa St CB Jontez Williams

All Big-12 second team in '24, played in only five games in '25 due to injury.

The article does not give a date for his visit, but rather "near future"

Hear me out on Richard Young guys, because he makes a lot of sense for Notre Dame.

1. It was reported last week that ND was looking at a running back that was still on a playoff team's roster. That was before Alabama was eliminated.

2. Notre Dame highly recruited Young out of high school and Young was genuinely interested in ND (even visited) before ultimately selecting Alabama.

3. Young is from Florida, where JaJuan Seider has deep connections and recruited him heavily out of high school.

4. Young is, apparently, an excellent student, from an awesome family and would be a great cultural fit for ND, hence why he liked his visit so much in high school.

5. Young has 2 years of eligibility remaining and would be a solid veteran addition to the running back room. He'd also be relatively cheap because his production has be limited at Alabama. Notre Dame is not likely looking to spend significant money at the RB position in order to add a body and the top tier guys are all super expensive this cycle. This could be a "buy low" guy that Seider thinks he can get more out of.

With II saying that Gray is back, that's a bit strange unless they're looking at Williams for nickel.

Seems like an interesting use of transfer $ when you're loaded in house at the position. Maybe they see it as an enhancement? I'd still rather save every drop of the defensive NIL fund on dline though

ND has enough to do both. Like I said, their transfer portal budget is likely $6+ million after Schrauth reportedly turned down more than $1 million to go pro, Wagner turned down high six figures to go pro and Price reportedly turned down $2 million to go pro. That extra money can now be spent in the portal. If ND can get 2 defensive tackles and a defensive end for $3 million'ish, they still have at least half of their Portal budget left to spend.
