It has continued all the month of December highlighted by Finebaum's (and really ESPN's) idiotic, misguided and full of shit argument focus on Miami deserved to be in ahead of ND because if H2H win, ignoring that Alabama (and really OK) did not deserve to be in ahead of ND actually. This has all been a distraction from this real highway robbery story. Finebaum even being so audacious as to note all the “Notre Dame writers and bloggers and pundits and influencers and fans” who chastised Alabama for struggling early against Oklahoma before the Crimson Tide came alive and won that CFP game. Yeah, that's because OK also sucked and it was really not that much if a comeback win as even more evidenced by today's blowout results. SMH.

Paul Finebaum want to ‘see Miami win it all just to shut Notre Dame fans up’

All part of that network’s way to influence stupid people into believing ND is bad and the SEC is just the best. It’s like watching mainstream news talk about whoever the president may be. The narrative for ESPN is boo ND.

They played gutsy enough, ok?!
Still irritates the hell out of me. This is my Roman empire for the 2025 committee screw job.

- Alabama gets a “gutsy” wire-to-wire win over 5-7 Auburn (three of those wins being against Ball State, South Alabama, and Mercer)
- ND completely takes care business against a roughly equivalent (to Auburn) Stanford team. 49-20, 525 yards of offense, most of it without Love. But the game was placed at 10:30 EST (hmm… wonder why) and I can all but guarantee none of the committee members watched (or even cared).

So Alabama gets to jump ND going into conf championship weekend? This is one of many moments that did us in, but it’s by far the least defensible IMO.

It’s a sham, unfortunately. A farce of a playoff and championship. As a football fan, I think we are all robbed by ND not being able to participate—yet James Madison, Tulane, Alabama, Oklahoma, and hell, Texas Tech to an extent get to trot out there as cannon fodder. Compete disgrace.

Anyways, I’ve evidently rubbed people the wrong way. Mea culpa, mea culpa, Mea maxima culpa. I’m not perfect nor held myself out to be. I’d normally jab back at some, but after today’s homily for the Solemnity of Mary, I’m letting it go. It isn’t worth it. I still hold, however, that I’ve pulled and wanted the best for ND. In my opinion, as it stands today, it’s the sole school at least attempting to do things the correct way. But, that’s a whole different topic.

Wish you all and your families the best. I’m happy Freeman is coming back and I hope you utterly destroy every opponent on your schedule next year (excluding LSU should we meet again, of course).

Cheers gentlemen. I’ll respectfully bow out, but Go Irish

Georgia is going to blow them out in the second half. I would not be surprised if this gets ugly.

Stick around, guy. Celebrate feeling what it’s like to root for a team in the post-BK glow.

Crazy that I think exactly half of the playoff field this year were frauds. I think six teams are fairly legit and six of the teams that made it were frauds. Question is, who would you replace the six frauds with? Notre Dame, of course, but other than that? Who do you have?

I would say...

1.) Notre Dame
2.) Iowa
3.) Texas, I guess...they whooped OK.
4.) Vanderbilt? I think they were better than OK.
5.) Utah or BYU?

What do you think? What would your top 12 be?

This year should be considered another top ten finish for MF.

Realistically, how many AP voters will leave ND off their final poll completely?

I understand none of this shit matters, but i fully anticipate a protest style ranking (either comically low or not at all)

Nobody besides @pumpdog20 actually would put that.

If I was the committee, I think it would have looked like this...going into the postseason, of course.

1.) Indiana
2.) Ohio State
3.) Georgia
4.) Texas A&M
5.) Oregon
6.) Miami
7.) Notre Dame
8.) Texas Tech
9.) Ole Miss
10.) USC
11.) Texas
12.) Vanderbilt

How much more fun would those matchups be?

Bama beat Vanderbilt by 16 and definitely deserves a bid over Vanderbilt in this scenario.

I think everyone should get used to a 12 team playoff not having 12 good teams. The problem is ND was statistically one of the 3 best at worst and got left out. But you will never once find a 12 team field that can all win a championship. The best you can do is get all that can (probably like 5 at most) and then fill in the other spots with most deserving. But it’s ridiculous in a 12 team era to leave out a team that everyone universally agrees can win it all.

I thought about that and wouldn't argue that too much. Vanderbilt definitely looked better at season's end, though. And that would play a part in my rankings. The Bama/Vandy game was much closer than that in reality and Bama was playing their best ball then.

The only reason I'm interested in expansion to 16 teams is it greatly diminishes the likelihood of a situation like this year happening. A playoff system in a sport like CFB should include every single team that has a realistic shot of winning it all. If that means we get a few more tomato cans, so be it. Easy trade off. Ideally, zero autobids, but I know that won't happen. With 5 autobids and a 16 team field, the first two out would have been Michigan and Utah IIRC. That's acceptable. Neither team was winning a playoff game.

You have to remember that this year, autobids went to the five highest ranked conference winners. We can speculate all we want about the 12 best teams. Contractually, can’t change much except us ole miss, Oklahoma, Alabama, Oregon? (matched our best win), and untested Texas Tech. Going against a corrupt committee that had no ND representation due to some book writer being excluded, we didn’t stand a chance.

Chips down. Did Bama earn the right to be in the playoff?
No the credibility of the amazing difficult SEC, where it just means more.

Apart from the TAM win over ND what was the next best out of conference win by an SEC team? Possibly Texas win over Michigan? Pathetic.

The year we lost to UGA the entire conference's 2nd best win was Fresno State (Bama). Of course the SEC got all of the credit.

Is it me or Is really boring and flat watching these SEC teams play each other. It's hard to watch the game at times

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I miss when Bama / UGA were absolutely stacked with hard hitting NFL dudes on defense. It’s wild to me how they’ve fallen off on D despite their recruiting remaining elite.
