The one thing that really sucks is that for our seniors and some underclassmen (Love, Price) had no clue going into the Stanford game that that would be their final game in a Notre Dame uniform. No one realistically saw it playing out like this. Hell, I feel bad for the senior band members, cheerleaders, the Leprechaun…

That’s not exactly true. A lot of people said this was not a guaranteed opportunity. Again a lot of people thought 10-2 was good enough.

Say what you want about the entire situation and going forward ND had to be 11-1 or 12-0. That’s it.

I’ve shared here before that my boss’ nephew is a senior this year in the ND band. He sent me some cool pictures from last year’s run.

To say the least, dude was devastated maybe just as much as the players were on selection Sunday.

Opting out of the bowl was a surprise, no? I'll stand by the players, when suiting up and warming up, likely had no clue that that would be it.

In a vacuum, you’re correct. But ESPN gave every indication on their weekly results show that if ND took care of business w/o any hiccups, they’d be in. Even if it was “possible” that ND got left out at the final moment & players/coaches acknowledged that, they’d quickly reassure themselves that they were most likely in. If that was the thought process from administration on down, there was no serious planning for a backup scenario where ND had to pull together bowl travel logistics in a matter of hours. It was a lot less stressful to just call it a season once the players voted “no” on a bowl. In hindsight, there was surely some regret about Stanford being the final game for most but it’s also a reminder to cherish every game, every play, every rep, every off season workout b/c it may be their last.

UGA over Ole Miss
OSU over Miami
TTech over Oregon

I want to favor OSU more b/c I know Cristalballs will find a way to lose if it's close and OSU might be most likely to win by 30 but something doesn't sit right with me.

You're not picking the 12 best teams ... You're picking the best combo for the interested conferences.

These bowls do not matter. BUT if you're going to play in them, then yea I'm sure you want to win them.

Bowl prestige will be eliminated with the next expansion.

All I know is the CFB conference commissioners better change the field to 16 - at which point the top 12 MOU likely goes away - so that P4 teams don't shy away from scheduling ND. This whole current anti-ND and anti-schedule ND sentiment is ridiculous but I want to see it go away soon.

Missouri was ranked for a good bit of the season and didn't beat one ranked team this year.
