MF is currently debating with the brass about football being in a conference.

What if he sees joining a conference as a better path to future consistent playoff berths, and is insisting they create a plan to join one before signing an extension?

If there was consistency with all power conference champs making it into the playoffs & it made it easier for us to make it into every year by dominating the ACC id be here for it. There are only THREE active CFB coaches with a natty, to put it into perspective.

I’ll keep it simpler. Saban could no longer dominate in the current system of college football. I don’t think anyone will be able to recruit and retain the type of roster he could back then. Not saying that’s why he retired but that’s the truth. IMO.

Its fact. Gillis put it best. Now the guy's mad that everyone is allowed to pay their players.

Bama can dominate in a world where they're morally flexible enough to pay a kid $100k illegally and few other teams are willing to make the same compromise. Bama is hanging by a thread in a world where that same kid is going for 7 figures and everyone can offer that within the rules.

Saban was an elite coach. He had other significant advantages beyond coaching that don't exist at Bama anymore.

Wasn't he already struggling to keep up the success at the end of his time at Bama? He had gone 3 seasons without a win which was definitely a dip.

I agree, but if my memory serves me right, didn't Michigan just have more talent that year. Like JJ, Corum, Wilson and some DEF players now in the NFL. And Jalen Milroe just wasn't that guy.

Would the hiring freeze have an effect on whether he wants to re-sign? Obviously if they’re not hiring new people or talking money right now maybe they gives more of a chance he leaves for the nfl…hopefully not but I don’t know the ends and outs of what’s going on at ND now so I just want to understand every possible scenario.
