All things equal, it could be one of the rarer moments ND benefits from proximity compared to LSU

Smothers is explosive through the hole but I'm not sure if he really has breakaway speed.
Missed two games in 2024 due to injury and basically another two in 2025
Evidently his blocking is not good.

Not sure how all that fits for what we would be looking for.

According to this piece, it sounds like both he and Rutgers top RB, also a sophomore, may both be looking to join the portal, but they have been tight-lipped to reporters.

We should get a two-fer deal and get both KJ Duff and Antwan Raymond to join the Irish.

Raymond is not too shabby and had a b/o sophomore season:

- He's 5'11' and is purported to run a high 4s 40-yd dash
- He ran for 1,241 yds in 12 games (5.1/carry) and 13 TDs and caught 18 passes for 225 yds and 2 TDs
- He's Canuck and is the winner of the 2025 Jon Cornish Trophy as the most outstanding Canadian player in NCAA football!

I think we need to bring in a guy like Ibirogba plus another quality DT and then maybe an underclassmen. We lose Onye, Dawson and Rubio all who played a lot this year. It’s a long season we can’t expect Hinish or anyone else to be healthy all year. You get 1-2 injuries on the DL your playing with fire. Burgess should be ready to play but he’s going to be a tweener. You got Hinish, Hughes, Mullins. Hinish is good in certain situations but we are trying to win a title.

I’m convinced that this has got to be one of the mods just fucking around.

Yes it's Duff, seems like it will be either Marsh or Duff if we land someone. They won't take both. Honestly I like Duff more bigger frame 6'6

I can sort of understand Indiana having to do this. Their program isn't viewed as highly as a lot of others and it's harder for them to attract top-tier QB's out of HS. What annoys me is programs like Miami and Oregon who do it year, after year, after year under Cristobal and Lanning.

The flip side is that they probably have a fair bit of time on their hands these days.

I would think portal speculation might be the best they can do to drum up interest at the moment.
