I'd sell him on having a good shot to be the starter but not over use him to keep him healthy, fresh, explosive all year. IMO he got overworked the first 5 games of the year, and banged up. He was averaging about 20 carries a game. I'd like to see him used like a soph jeremiah love where he got about 10-15 regular season carries a game.

I'm skeptical ge gets past admissions. He attended 2 HS's and was suspended & ineligible his SR season. He then enrolled at Oklahoma and transferred after 1 year. He then transferred to NC St where he spent 2 years.

Not sure admissions looks at his transcripts and concludes that his credits transfer over to ND.

Calling RB a position of need seems odd. They have a number of options, just not proven beyond Williams. But if you trust your recruiting, there doesn't seem to actually be a need at RB.

Agreed. They have (likely) three quality backs and two blue chippers coming in.

I would think the only reason to get a portal RB would be if Freeman thinks that an upgrade would be the difference between winning the championship vs finishing runner-up.

I think Williams is good enough to get us there. Not so certain on whoever would be at the top of the list to share carries. I'm sure Freeman's got a good handle in the situation. Not too worried about it.

has he announced he "plans" to enter the portal?

I agree he's on a different level and would absolutely want him.

With that said, smothers has the speed/quickness that williams, young, james don't have. Brown has even more of it. I think having that is important for our offense. I like all 3 of williams, young, james, but would like a compliment to them.

I’d mostly agree but next year, if we get key returnees and a few key portal guys, seems to be THE Year. I like AW but I’m just not sure I see RB1.

That said if the gameplay is unleash CJ for 300+ and dominate on defense again, a top RB isn’t a must, especially if ur over paying.

I’d rather have Shrauth back.

He was injured and did not play against Georgia Tech. He was still questionable against Miami and I'm assuming probably shouldn't have played.

💯He was definitely overworked in the first part of the year. He's a solid option if he can get past admissions but it's a couple others out there that I would wait in to see if they hit the portal.
