i don't disagree with that, but if he's going to get a million from somebody, I wouldn't be matching that either.

I really feel like we need to convince Wagner to stay if we are all in on 2026. An old OL is the way to go.
I'd like him back, but Schrauth is a bigger priority, IMO. If Schrauth goes, you can let Wagner go if he gets a big-time offer. If Schrauth leaves, then I think you have to keep Wagner. This isn't a shot at the kid, but trusting Jagusah to make it through an entire year would not be a wise move, IMO. You need to keep 2/3 of Schrauth, Wagner, and Absher.

I think your starting OL to begin the year will be the following
LT: Knapp
LG: Jagusah
Center: Otting or Craig
RG: Lambert, Absher backing up LG/RG
RT: Will Black

ND tried to go OLD and experienced to start this season and it cost us. Definitely vs A&M and probably vs Miami.

The best players need to be ready to play.

Wagner is not our of the top 7 OL IMO next year. If Billy comes back you'd have

Knapp - JR
Billy - Senior
Craig - Senior
Jagusah - Senior
Lambert - Junior

If billy doesn't come back Lambert probably stays at guard and one of Black/Augustine as a soph start. This will be an old oline even in that scenario. Black and Augustine are different than wagner in a good way. They look and move like elite tackles.

i could see this. Could also see Black-Knapp-Craig/Otting-Jagusah-Lambert. Right side could be flipped too. Can't rule out Jagusah as a tackle. There is a lot of versatility in our OL and they do like Augustine a lot too. And you have Absher.

Billy, Otting, Jagsuah, Lambert and Knapp are all legit starters returning. I want Aamil back but I'm ok with him leaving if we get Billy back.

We are loaded and with 5-star Will Black in year 2. With our schedule I have no doubt a 6th starter level can learn on the fly. I'd honestly place getting Sneed back as higher on the list than Aamil with the KVA injury.

I don't see high level with Otting, serviceable, but a clear step down from Craig IMO.

It will be interesting to see if Knapp will just be penciled in at LT for the next 2 years (i assume yes). Or if they work to get the top 5 on the field, that may require knapp to move, hopefully center, if not 2026, then 2027.

When it is all said and done, we got to consider the new reality of how teams look at this. It is similar to the NFL. Wagner is good player who could get paid by another needy program. Is it worth the hit to our salary cap? As a Niner/ND fan, similar to McGlinchey leaving for Denver a few years ago

I honestly forgot Scrauth who I expect back. If that is the case I think Lambert or Black battle it out for RT.

I will add I’d rather have Aamil back than Billy even though I think Billy is better. But when no one is sold on Knapp as a tackle, I’d rather have another proven tackle return.

Wonder if you could pitch Aamil on moving to LT to increase his stock. But I’m happy with just one of Aamil/Billy because we simply have the bodies to fill a great OL. But I would prefer Aamil over Billy if it came to it.

I’d much rather have Billy back. Will Black is probably taking Wagner’s job this spring.

I honestly can’t tell if he’s doing a bit or if he actually thought adding “4LIFE” to the username of his burner account was an adequate disguise.
