You want ND to be tied to a worse conference than the ACC. Using Google would have saved you from this embarrassment.

I’ll take Mantooth over Brick Tamland.
Many in the world/sportsworld are a Brick Tamland type when it comes to college football - "learn as you go". It isn't a big deal - its actually fun.

But your personality as a forum Mantooth type bully is the real life you. People see it. It is pathetic.

While I agree that eventually divesting ourselves of the ACC is a good idea, I'm going to go ahead and say that tying ourselves to the American or any G5 conference is not "The Optimal Notre Dame Scheduling Model."

No, that would kill the program. Scheduling alliances with SEC and the Big Ten. If those don’t work, then just full membership in the Big Ten or if my dream ever comes true, the SEC.

The SEC would be my preference as well. Try to class the place up.

I feel like ND could join the American and see it as like a fixer upper. Just like treat it as our own conference.

I lied earlier - I am not done with this idea.

I don't know if there are any F1 fans here, but watching NDs treatment at the hands of the ACC is like watching the treatment Piastri is getting from Norris/McLaren (except that Norris beat Piastri quite a bit).

Can ND schedule a 13th game to give them an extra data point going forward?
You mean this week, I presume. Probably too late.

However, there is a rule that if you play at Hawaii, you can have an extra game. I’ve always thought we play Hawaii at the end of the season, get the extra game, and have that be the west coast swing.

If we do, have the team ready

How many teams are hitting their stride in week 1?

The only way I see a coach truly getting a handle on his team is to play a game. The idea is for that game not to have season-long implications for your playoff hopes. The team you are in week 1 is almost never the team you are in week 10, injuries aside.

Yes that is ideal, but until then we need to be ready to play week 1 and hope our opponent isn't.

Optimal Notre Dame Scheduling Model: Don't schedule your two hardest games in weeks 1 and 2. End of thread.
That probably won't happen again in our lifetimes. I can't offhand think of any previous ND season (or any team's seasons) where this happened.

Still disappointed that Miami and A&M were scheduled back to back to start the season.

Independence should end immediately. Join a conference.
I can’t fathom why you’re being downvoted on this. Committee just came out and said a conference championship game is extra credit. Winning one helps, not making one or losing one or getting blown out in one if you’re in a conference doesn’t matter.

We just have a narrower path to the playoffs than anyone else. And because scheduling has to be done years in advance, it’s always going to be semi random whether we get a murderers row of a schedule or a bunch of three win teams or, like this year, a brutal start for a new qb and then nothing of note down the road.

If A&M and Miami losses are replaced by two losses to Ohio State and Oregon, in conference games, and everything else is exactly the same (beat Minnesota and Rutgers and Maryland instead of Boston College, Syracuse, and North Carolina State), this is indisputably a playoff team. Conference losses are excused. Independent losses are punished.

We need to schedule more Arkansas type teams. Beat SEC bottom feeders soundly and get credit for SEC wins.

Texas Tech played no one and they're a 4 seed.
We could schedule the bottom feeders and Navy and get a bye. Take advantage of the indy status.

Everyone unfairly kills us every year for our schedule, why not actually do what we're accused of?

Joining a conference only helps as long as biased / corrupt committee is making the decisions. No one asked for a committee, and today should be its death knell. Doubtful tho.
