I'm not sure why everyone is convinced BYU drops with a loss. That they aren't as good as TT isn't new information. It should already be factored into their ranking. I'm also not sure why they are acting like the committee is adjusting rankings while the last team in the 4-team grouping still has a game to play.

Every CCG loser dropped last year. But it really turns on whether or not they want to flip ND and Miami or not. If they want to, they will just drop BYU, even with a close loss. I don't think how BYU loses (if they lose) will determine whether ND or Miami gets in.

Hammond isn’t a downgrade from Morton, arguably an upgrade especially given Morton’s injury.

Even assuming they will drop BYU, Alabama is still playing. They aren't re-ranking the pod on the fly before that game ends given that the debate was supposedly Bama/ND and not ND/BYU/Miami.
