Without formal expansion, there should (at the very least) be a play-in game for the 12th spot. So, say, G5 vs. the lowest ranked other team (maybe UVA or Duke this year, depending on the ACCCG) for that spot. The G5 team should have to beat a decent P4 team before getting a spot.
And tomorrow when TT goes up 14 we'll see that live line bounce to -750For those that care about such things, ND is -500 on Caesar’s to make it. Next closest is Virginia at -180

That was a wild situation though and there wasn't really any precedent set a situation like that.FSU was at -800 to get in the morning they were left out.
not sure what it means, but Caesar -500 hasn't moved all week. Meanwhile FanDuel has constantly changed and is -370, which is up (good way) from yesterday. For those that care about such things, ND is -500 on Caesar’s to make it. Next closest is Virginia at -180

This is what I’ve been saying to salty Miami fans all week. Miami and ND (if they’re left out) shouldn’t be pissed at each other. To think one of these teams is left out while a putrid Virginia team along with a P5 team will be in is crazyI can't get over the fact that Tulane is going to get an auto bid after they already proved against Ole Miss THIS SEASON that they don't belong. All of Miami's anger and frustration needs to be focused on 1) dumb ACC CCG rules and 2) CFP auto bids going to garbage teams ranked way behind them.
I'm not sure it was that bad, I could have swear I saw -400 or -350 but to your point....Anything can happen, but losing your star QB is a huge wildcard.FSU was at -800 to get in the morning they were left out.
If it wasn't for ND, I think the system would be fine. The Natty will come from someone inside the top 6/8 every year....9-12 should be for the good stories and crazy long shots.I’m glad they got rid of the seeding rules. Maybe they’ll get rid of the automatic conference bids but I doubt that. But overall we need to stop trying to charge the system based on what happens in a single season. Just pick a format and keep it. What if there were a bunch of 9-3 teams this year instead of 10-2? Then we’d be complaining about a bunch of mediocre teams getting in and there will usually be some controversy at the cut line regardless of format
Losing your coach is a massive one also. but yet they kept Ole Miss at 7.I'm not sure it was that bad, I could have swear I saw -400 or -350 but to your point....Anything can happen, but losing your star QB is a huge wildcard.
I thought they actually moved up this week.Losing your coach is a massive one also. but yet they kept Ole Miss at 7.
Auto bids have been stupid from the start. I vividly remember arguing with people that they weren’t necessarily and were only useful for protecting bad conference champions. Surprise surprise that’s exactly how this has played out.I’m glad they got rid of the seeding rules. Maybe they’ll get rid of the automatic conference bids but I doubt that. Any chance BYU wins and Alabama loses (by 10+) and we are in?
9. BYU
10. Notre Dame
11. Alabama
12. Miami
If BYU pulls off the upset, you best believe that is our only option to still make it.Any chance BYU wins and Alabama loses (by 10+) and we are in?

Yeah the autobid charity cases are messing everything up, but also we shouldn't forget the SEC is still the main villain of CFB. There is no way Ole Miss without it's coach would MOVE UP one ranking if they weren't in the SEC. There's no way that OU would be just safe and unquestionably in the playoffs if they weren't in the SEC. Alabama only jumped us last week to try and lock them in because they got left out last year and they and the SEC kicked up a shitstorm over it. Miami is a better team than OU or Alabama. This is what I’ve been saying to salty Miami fans all week. Miami and ND (if they’re left out) shouldn’t be pissed at each other. Is this a typo?If BYU pulls off the upset, you best believe that is our only option to still make it.
We would need either a Alabama close lose with a Ty Simpson season ending injury (like Carson Beck last year), or for them to lose by preferably (3) scores.
Even then it would be incredibly unlikely.
The committee doesn't want to punish Conference Championship results, so it would take major guts to eliminate Alabama for playing an extra game, even though it is technically thier (12th) game since they played a FCS team which doesn't carry the same "weight" by the committee rules.
Also, if Ty Simpson were to suffer a season ending injury, that wasn't obvious, you best believe Alabama wouldn't publicly announce anything before the selection is made and the committee would be hard pressed to guess about any severity.
The only reason I'm brining up this scenario is because it did happen to Carson Beck last year, and Simpson is certainly nursing some type of back injury that you can see is being worked on in game on the sidelines in recent weeks.
He’s saying Alabama and Miami would be out.Forgetting ACC and G5 auto bids

I feel like the dumbest talking points are where people think the committee is fair and impartial and don’t have an agenda that is different from getting the best teams in the playoff.Of all the dumb taking points I’ve heard about this, I think the dumbest is if Duke wins they’ll put Miami in to not shut out the ACC. Yea, the committee just wants the ACC to have a spot no matter who so they decide to screw Notre Dame instead of James Madison
