I agree that the committee is likely to put us ahead of Oklahoma to protect us.

That being said… I am not used to Notre Dame getting the eye test padding that Alabama used to get. If you had told me five years ago that ND is getting the biggest resume to ranking boost of any other team, I’d have called you crazy.

It would be a real shame to not have this team play for it all. A horrible game plan against Miami, a missed PAT against A&M. We should be undefeated with a bye.

Two takeaways from this season:

One, Marcus needs to examine why his teams are having horrible Septembers and fix it, asap. He has been good at addressing his issues so far, but we need to come out of camp firing on all cylinders.

Two, we need to improve our schedule. We need at least one or two more top tier teams. As a fan, getting up for huge games is the best part of CFB and we haven’t had very many the past few years

Destroyed means you covered and went above the expectations.

We were in the process of destroying them until the coaching staff decided to put cruise control on.

Another very good win to get to 10-2.
No, "destroyed" has nothing to do with the spread, cetainly not when you get to 4-5 TD spreads.

My team got destroyed often in high school. No idea how often the metaphorical spread was covered, but being behind 42-3 in the second half is destruction pretty well regardless of what comes next

Committee already said they really like the Irish. They won’t punish the Irish after closing out Stanford the way they did.

The reality is ND started 0-2 and then went on a 10 game winning streak basically blowing out everyone. I think we jump Oklahoma and that’s the committees way of locking us in. The committee sees ND as a legit threat to win it all
I hope we mucked up the OU game enough where the committee can see that — despite their record — they aren’t playoff worthy.

I mean, that was a home game against an LSU team without its HC (probably an upgrade), OC (again, probably an upgrade), starting QB, 2 starting WRs (Aaron Anderson, Nic Anderson), and 2 starting OL (Moore and Williams). The offense is bad enough as is much less that many out …

I said it yesterday, and I truly mean it, Vanderbilt should be in over Oklahoma …

People need to relax Notre Dame brings money they aren’t leaving a 10-2 ND team out end of story, wouldn’t surprise me to see us ahead of Bama and Oklahoma this week, they also might have Texas and Vandy jump Miami so it’s not close. I’d be more worried if SMU won last night but Miami will have losses against 2 unranked teams.

Correct me if I’m mistaken, but Texas Tech is in win or lose, right? Notre Dame needs them to beat BYU again, correct? Alabama losing to Georgia — which most certainly could happen —is lagniappe?

Tennessee finished last year ranked 7th with two losses their best win was against number 12 bama. They had two bad losses against ARK and killed against Georgia. They didn’t have another top 25 win. This is a similar situation as us but we our better. We will have a top 25 win against USC who will be 15th, possibly Navy at 25. Our losses will be to Number 4-5 and number 12-13.

Conference over expanding and the B1G getting 3 teams is screwing everything up.

Neither the B1G or SEC is as good as they act like.

But, the SEC has more good teams than the B1G 10. Georgia, Ole Miss, Bama, Oklahoma, Vandy, A&M and Texas.

The B1G really only has 3 (Ohio St., Indiana and Oregon). Maybe 3.5 if you count USC.

Oregon only played one of those other good teams and lost.

But, since it's their only loss (and because they are inexplicably getting credit for beating Pedo St.) they are in.

Which, I guess by the metrics is fine. But, the SEC , especially, is so damn big now and unbalanced that it's hard to really know what's what. Oklahoma beat Bama who beat Georgia. But, Bama has the dogshit FSU loss.

It's such a weird year because Georgia is the closest thing the SEC has to a dominant team and they are only very good, not great.

I'm not even sure what my point is at this point 🤣

I guess just trying to say that because those conferences are so big (and because they have the mega TV deals) that they get too much benefit of the doubt.

Because the SEC needs another team in.
I think all can state a strong case:

Georgia
Texas A&M
Alabama
Oklahoma
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt

Texas, sorry, nice win against A&M, but you’re out. Take a lap.

Aside from the Big Ten Championship, Indiana has played one game all year - Oregon.

BYU is having a nice season, but get real. They’re just eating up someone’s spot (Vanderbilt, Miami, Texas, etc).

The G5 rep (Tulane, James Madison, etc) is a nice story and all, but come on … they, again, are just eating up someone’s spot.

I believe.

If ND jumps Oklahoma, which I think might happen, then it probably won’t matter.

I agree that it isn’t good to have 5+ teams representing one conference in the Playoff. Hopefully, the Committee will flip ND and OU.

That said, as much as I don’t think they’re worthy, that’s very much a product of recency bias — a few weeks ago, OU went into Tuscaloosa and won (they’re actually on a nice steak with wins @Tennessee, @ Alabama, Mizzou and LSU).

Isn't Texas Tech coach the one that made random fly by comments about NDs independence?

Is he going to lose on purpose to help get two big 12 teams in and bump ND out? Lol

This is a fair analysis, especially with respect to the SEC. The only teams that I am certain are playoff worthy are OSU, Indiana, Oregon, Georgia, TAMU, and ND. The rest of these teams are good to quite good but could also lose to anyone on a given Saturday. I am fairly certain that all 3 of Bama, OU, and Ole Miss would get absolutely boat raced by OSU — which is a metric that should be part of the committee’s analysis this year.
