Just to be clear, but maybe I'm wrong, it all comes down to BYU/Txtch, (unless we magically jump oklahoma), right?

If Georgia beats Bama, it probably gets us in too, but in that case things become murky. They could still keep Bama in and/or have a window to jump Miami over us.

Are there any other scenarios to keep an eye on?

Georgia Bama isn't murky. They are behind us right now. They struggled against a bad 5-6 Auburn team. We destroyed a bad Stanford team. There is no reason to think they will jump us this week. If they don't jump us this week what is the justification for them jumping us after losing another game? None.

Exactly. I feel better about getting in ahead of Bama than Miami. Also I feel better about getting in ahead of Oklahoma than Miami. I think Miami deserve in ahead of ND.

actually, that totally makes sense, my bad. I guess a way to think of it is they are competing with BYU for a potential final spot since ACC and American conference champions will take the last 2 spots.
But what if they lose by say 1 point to Georgia. Maybe it would be slightly up in the air...

So if you put $10 on that you get $8000? Thats nuts.
No. If you bet $100 you get $900 total.
I would like to agree, but I'm just looking for full confidence scenarios. We've been screwed too many times in the past for me to not consider they would bump us out for a Bama team that lost in the championship. They might say that no one should be punished for losing a conf championship for example(especially since it is the sec championship).
It could also potentially create less space between us and Miami. At the moment I dont see Miami in any way jumping 3 spots to leapfrog us, but if Bama lost, it might seem a bit more reasonable for them to jump 2 spots in the committees eyes(not mine of course)
That's not punishing them. THEY'RE ALREADY BEHIND. That would be rewarding them for losing a conference championship game.

You are right, man. I edited my post. But I'm slightly skeptical they might be rewarded if they played Georgia extremely close. It is the SEC, and some favoritism wouldn't surprise me. Remember what they did to FSU a couple years ago? Also it would reduce the gap between us and Miami and potentially open the door for them to have an excuse to jump us. Very unlikely, but I'd rather not be sweating when they release the final polls. A BYU loss would eliminate any anxiety.

Essentially we need 1 of 3 things to happen:

1) The committee flips ND and Oklahoma Tuesday night. This one is particularly juicy because it moves us from being on the bubble to hosting.

2) TTU beats BYU

3) Georgia beats Alabama

Also assuming we make the playoffs we’re now for all realistic most scenarios locked into playing the B1G champion in round 2.

Change that to most. I suppose Alabama and TTU winning could land us in the 10 spot.

Destroyed isn’t the word I would have chosen.

Notre Dame at #8 above Oklahoma is what I think we will see on Tuesday. The committe has made it very clear they think highly of ND as a complete team. That narrative has been consistent for the last month. In contrast, Oklahoma is not a complete team and almost lost (again) at home to a coach-less LSU team. All the ingredients are there for Oklahoma to be the "bubble team" in the case of Bama winning the SEC champ.

Also, based off the metrics, there are 5 teams that have separated themselves as the 5 best teams in the country Ohio St, IU, TTech, Oregon, anf ND. None of them are SEC teams. Why are we rewarding a conference with half the at large bids when they don't really have any championship caliber teams?

Destroyed is the word every football fan in America would choose outside of crazy message board fans

Destroyed means you covered and went above the expectations.

We were in the process of destroying them until the coaching staff decided to put cruise control on.

Another very good win to get to 10-2.

Covering is irrelevant when 1) a spread is 31.5 points and 2) ND was up 42-3 with 3 minutes left in the third quarter. Would this instantly change to destroyed for you if ND kicked a 30 yard fg with no time left to cover how they could have?

I'd be maybe mildly concerned if the committee were on the fence about ND

They've clearly shown they love what ND has done and consider the close early losses circumstances

Why in the world would they suddenly get critical?

If the committee doesn't put is in front of Oklahoma they were never going to with a Oklahoma win. Tuesday is going to be very interesting

The reality is ND started 0-2 and then went on a 10 game winning streak basically blowing out everyone. I think we jump Oklahoma and that’s the committees way of locking us in. The committee sees ND as a legit threat to win it all

What about Alabama's win over Auburn or ND's win over Stanford makes you change your mind about them being ahead or behind ND? We should hold at 9, but Bama would jump us with a win over UGA in SEC CCG. I don't see Miami randomly jumping up multiple spots for beating Pitt. Utah and BYU didn't do anything to move up either. Vandy has an argument to maybe jump a spot or two, but Tennessee has 0 wins against P4 teams with a winning record. So unless the committee just decides to Leroy Jenkins this thing, the only way we don't get in is if BYU beats TTU (and TTU doesn't drop below us) and Bama beats UGA (and UGA doesn't drop below us).
