BYU is only a factor if they beat TTU. Barring an upset of Oregon or Oklahoma, this comes down to us, Miami and Bama. Two teams make it.
Right and from what I understand they were in the B12 title game regardless of today's results so it was irrelevant if they won or lost today.

If the whole point of the CFP 12-team format is to open up the playoffs to give more teams a post-season second chance, then let's just open it up even more since there are about 14-16 teams that can all make some kind of claim to get in. It does appear that the number of late-season upsets are lacking this year (kind of an exception) but I think CFP expansion will eliminate all this craziness of jawboning and running up scores, etc. The final selection of teams is still a political, beauty pageant kind of contest. That really frustrates teams on the margin with a claim to entry when they're left out. So for example, with a 16-team playoff, the frustration and controversy is much less.

Right now, it feels like the old BCS selection process but just for more teams in the mix. Expanding the field will help relieve the selection process pressure. And so again, for example, the only teams bickering this year would be the much less-talented 2- and 3-loss teams down at the 14 to 16 spots. So this year, Texas, VA, Vanderbilt, and Utah. Much less drama down there.

You just won't have the first round byes and how do they deal with the lack of a playoff game for ND? But really, how many at large teams (Miami, Ole Miss this year, for example) with no CC game will be in play every year anyway? That issue gets increasingly muted anyway. As has been speculated, I would say let's go to super conferences where ND is just included in one of them, even if they're still independent, and they just start playing.

What does a CC game and victory buy anyway? You play the extra CC game and you many not even get a first round bye anyway. The rivalry games like OSU/MI, TX/OK, and USC/ND are more important than a CC game. There seems to be a better format and path to CFP out there.

The problem with opening it will always be well this team left looking in. You will never make everyone happy. They just have to put their foot down and decide what that number will be.

All the people calling us bedwetters for being concerned, I’m assuming you’re not paying attention to the full blown propaganda machine against ND. The entire second half of the Pitt game was non stop talk about how good Miami is. There’s a very good chance that ND ends up at 10 and Miami 11. At that point I see no reason why the committee doesn’t use h2h and swap the ND and Miami. To put this all to rest, need Alabama lose today or next Saturday, or Miami to get to the ACC championship and win it. Unless something really unexpected happens like Oklahoma or Oregon losing which I don’t see happening.

You're right I should be freaking out, that'll help.
Greyhammer is exactly right. It's not about whether the "bedwetters" are right or wrong, it's that I'm a fucking MAN, I'm not gonna fret all day about whether ND is going to make it and sit around and ask the same fucking questions over and over again about "does this really fuck us? Does team X only winning by 20 instead of 24 lose us our spot??"

Guess what, either ND is going to make it, or they won't. Either way, life goes on and there's not a single fucking thing I can do about it one way or the other.

I think they both likely lose, but i don't see the losing SEC team not getting in when they have them in prior to the game.

Alabama would be a 3 loss team with a common opponent loss (FSU) compared to Alabama and a loss against one of their previous wins. Very compelling case to drop them below Miami.

I’m sorry, but SEC has gotten their asses beat quite a bit this year by teams outside conference. They still think they deserve 5 teams wtf!

Agreed. They are somewhat fraudulent. I would take ND and Miami over Alabama, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss. Likely Georgia and Texas A&M also, but those two are a cut above the first three, IMO.

Question, what in the actual fuck is the point of this thread if we aren’t supposed to be discussing all the possible scenarios?? Are you really perusing these posts to see where people think A&M will be seeded?

Am I the only one that is "over it" with the playoff debates? I would love to be in, but I am exhausted at this point.
Agreed. Especially the coaches pitching their cases and dudes on here posting twitter comments from Miami bitches.
If one of the coaches comes out and says "well, we should not have lost 2 games" then that coaches team should get in.

Are you saying you will not be shattered or are you just talking shit? The term bed wetter was coined on here by dudes who were smug about 10-2 ND getting in no matter what, not because those dudes are level headed.

The term bedwetter was coined during the off-season over QB competition concerns. I can't believe you would attempt to rewrite important IE history.
