Is the eye test real though? Not too long ago they should have lost to Msst. How short is the committee's memory? They also eked out a win vs Kentucky the week before Msst.
It’s real in the sense that they’ve demonstrated they can be that good. I think if the mandate was to pick a field with the 12 “best teams” most likely to produce close and interesting games against each other they’d clearly be in.

But is that the issue? I think the issue is losing to Florida plain and simple. If everyone continues to play cupcakes, we are gonna see a lot more 10-2 teams than there are playoff spots . So, not sure how that would help to shut down oos scheduling... If anything, scheduling a tough opponent is probably looked as a positive. Any other 2 loss team with a loss to Florida probably wont get in either.
Completely agree on the first point, but not the latter. Texas is such a big brand coupled with the Manning factor and ending the season with a 10-point win over an undefeated, top 3 team … I believe the committee would be a prisoner of the moment and throw them in.

That's true. even with a loss to Florida, a 2 loss Texas team with a win over Oklahoma and A&M would be in. I think I'm probably a bit carried away after hearing they are deserving as a 3 loss team and could potentially bump us.

I can't pull for Michigan, but it would be hilarious if they beat Ohio State again. Wish they could both lose today.

I know Michigan has gotten into OSU's head, but I think Day finally getting over the hump last year has maybe freed them up mentally. Also, there's just no excuse for OSU to lose. Michigan's strength is their good (but not elite) defense, but OSU's defense is historic this year. It's power rated only behind 2011 Alabama and 2021 UGA:

And OSU's offense is miles and miles better than Michigan. I could see this game going similar to that Bama-LSU NCG rematch where LSU didn't cross the 50 yard line until like the 4th quarter.

to be fair, there was really no way Michigan should have won last year either.

True, but like I said, I'm interested to see if that playoff run and finally getting over the hump sort of frees up Day and OSU against Michigan.

Pitt winning tomorrow gets us home,… a Miami win makes things interesting
A. If Miami win not a close one makes it interesting. We demolished Pitt and it like other games left double digit points on the field.

They aren’t really being punished for their loss to OSU, though. They’re being punished for being creamed by Georgia and losing to Florida. If they’d played Ohio week 1 instead they’re probably on the same position.
Of course, but facts get in the way of Sark’s whining.

Looks like a stadium takeover in Ann Arbor. Seas of red for miles.

Look at the wins and losses of many of these contenders and who they lost to and in some cases by how much? Texas loses by 25 to GA and by 8 to 3 win Florida. Needed OT to beat Kentucky and Miss St. Allowed Vandy to come back and won by 3. Only claim to fame was beating an injured QB from Ok.

They shouldn’t even be opening their mouth. Nice win against A&M but we got the best versions of Miami and A&M and the committee knows we would kick their ass now.

In our 10 game win streak we have had convincing wins against ALL our opponents. Everyone of those games could have been even bigger wins with a play here or there. Our D looks amongst the best and fastest now to the eye and teams like Boise, Navy, Pitt and hopefully usc will finish strong to further our case. We need to cover the spread tonight on the road. Hope we have a good and contingent there. I don’t care who we play first in the playoffs. To be the best you need to beat the best.

Just hope for a home game.

Let’s hope Cade Bell learned from the ND game. First down was a sack of heintschel so not great.

But they did lose to Florida and it wasn’t a fluke result. With a lame duck coach to boot. Sorry that’s a deal breaker. ND did. It allow themselves to accrue that third loss to a 3 win team. Our wins are convincing and our two losses can be viewed as should have won and if played now we would. No one thinks Texas would avenge their losses to Ohio State or GA. Texas has been inconsistent all season. and has played dominating ball every game in their 10 wins. I’m counting on tonight being another convincing win. Marcus et al need to get the boys fired up. Playoff game number 1 tonight.

Guess I'll stop complaining about OSU taking over ND Stadium, because Michigan stadium right now...ouch

Heintschel still can’t adjust his internal clock. He’s had a great true freshman season but it’s obvious he doesn’t have the personnel to set him up for success vs the better defenses.

Must be nice to have a kicker who can drill a 45 yarder right down the middle.
