This is where Texas fans who are (unjustly) lamenting their CFP odds should be directing their ire, not at us. The Mid12 all collective schedule ass OOC like you said and it is purposely to drive up the number of "bowl eligible teams" they have. BYU fans have been flexing this for weeks now. But if you really take a look at what it takes to get to say 8 wins in the Mid12 it's really not that impressive. Beat 1-2 FCS schools, then a shitty G5 school, then beat some combination of Kansas, Colorado, Okie State, Baylor, etc. and maybe one or two of the "good teams" like Houston, UCF, and Iowa State and before you know it you're at 8 or 9 wins. A perfect "tough conference win" for TT or BYU.

I'm willing to extend the benefit of the doubt to TT because they've been demolishing teams and pass the "eye test" to some degree. BYU though, second straight year of fraudulent football from them. They're obviously good because they handle their schedules but they've had 2024 Kansas City Chiefs levels of luck two years in a row. Several of their games last year came down to the wire and required a lot of luck to win and they've had the same rabbit's foot shoved up their ass this year too. They're just a bad team and I only hope they get in if we get them, other than that I hope they're out.

One possible model that has been considered is four guaranteed spots for each of the Power 4 conferences, two for what will become the Group of 6 when the new-look Pac-12 begins, and six at-large bids for the selection committee to determine.'

Yes I think that is one of the only ways we can be left out at this point. Especially if it is a close game, it would be very similar to SMU last year where they didn't kick them out altogether, just gave them the last at-large spot.

Are you really comparing this ND team to SMU. Can't believe these conversations are still going on. ND on a 10 game winning streak gets in over the 10-2 loser of the big 12 CCG. Either team will have lost twice in the last 5 weeks (byu)-7 weeks (ttu). Also the nightmare scenarios I've seen have Alabama winning the SEC but one of O$U or IU will also have a loss. That would give us the 2nd longest winning streak in the country. Not getting left out of the field of 12 because of that alone.

It seems like you just don't like CFB lol. All of the debate and theorizing is half the fun. Besides there are too many teams to operate in a straight up W/L record style format. Even just by conference at this point.

This is why I like the 4 bye set up - those teams are typically top tier that will curb stomp the bottom 4 teams. Give the bottom four a chance to win one and keep the next four honest (5-8) and opportunity to celebrate a great season with a home playoff win.

16 is too many - keep it competitive and reward success.

Last year all the bye teams were reqarded with a first round loss. Maybe an anomaly, maybe not.

Kennesaw State is technically FBS now, but they've also only been a member for like 3 years...and they've only been playing football as a program for 10, so they might as well be FCS still. Really, ODU, Kennesaw, and Indiana St is like playing 3 FCS in a row really. You're not wrong, IU should be behind A&M. Cig knew what he was doing when he jumped to Indiana.

What is interesting to me is Bama's prospects. They are currently -200 to make the playoff on DK. Obviously they have to win this week. However, what happens if they lose to TAMU/Georgia in the SECCG and then fall to 3 losses? They would be up against BYU/TTU and dare I say Miami.

I don't think Bama can play A&M. UGA has tiebreaks against both.

Why would they throw a game versus an inferior opponent like BYU, to greatly decrease thier chances of winning a national title by taking themselves out of the running for a bye?

That doesn't make any sense.
They don't need anymore money, they have a Billionaire Oil tycoon financing everything with no end in sight.

Also, they have never won the Big 12 title.

No I was comparing TTU to SMU. I agree that their loss to ASU should come up big in the committee room should they lose the B12CG. But the resumes will be very similar. I think ND wins out because of the 10 game win streak, eye test, brand, and ability to make a run to a championship.

Byes don't greatly decrease your chances of winning a national title, but you should know this already.
