I think the main thing with Miami is the committee doesn’t want to give the ACC two bids. Particularly a non ACC Championship game participant. It just makes no sense to “reward” the conference regardless of who Team #2 is
Tricky part with this is that Miami is probably the only ACC team that might have the talent to win a playoff game. They are, by eye test, the best team in that conference, even if they won’t make the conference title game.

They wouldn’t be in this position if they had simply beaten SMU. And the games should matter. But of course that’s the same argument Miami fans make about us.

I don’t think it will or should matter any more than our somewhat pedestrian win against BC mattered.
Miami has been knocked by the committee for not playing well the last 6 or 7 weeks and another pedestrian win doesn't move the needle for them at all. The difference with our BC game is that was an anomaly in a sea of otherwise dominant victories. In our 9 game win streak we've won 7 of them by at least 22 points. There's a reason Cristobal kept his 30 year old QB in the game to desperately chase points.

It would be hilarious to have Miami up here for a cold game and watch them ass pucker. Florida boys struggle enough in the cold, but when it comes to Miami they just completely forget how to football in November. It's tradition!

The forecast high in Pittsburgh on Saturday will be 38. That might be enough to pucker those asses.
Too bad that’s not a night game. ACC pulling every stop to help Miami.

It's 80 degrees right now in Miami. A night game would certainly hurt Miami even more, but I don't think they're going to be ready for 30 degrees. They'll be huddled around heaters methinks.

They’re already worried about it. “No excuses, but actually lowkey sort of an excuse cuz itll be a lil chilly”

It's going to be cold no matter what time of day it is Thursday to Saturday in the Midwest

ND now has -2000 odds on draft kings to make the playoff. They’re no longer taking bets on OSU, Indiana, A and M, or Georgia. Tech is -6000. That gives ND the 6th highest odds in the country

I really wish that Pitt and Miami could both lose. Could care less about the optics and consequences because ND is going to roll Stanford and they're going to the playoffs.

I'd love to see Miami vs ND round 2 in balmy South Bend mid Dec. Let's see how badass they are after having a home game when the humidity was a bit on the high side at the start of the season.

I want nothing more than Miami in South Bend in December. Michael Irvin will be right at home in that fresh powder. Also I have no doubt ND would make Miami quit in that game but not accept their surrender and continue to stomp them into the dirt until Lou Holtz allows Marcus to call off the dogs. But jokes on them because Lou will never.

So do you guys think it is safe to say that ND will be going on the road in the first round? What do you think needs to happen for us to host?

Obviously these three games would help...
LSU upsets Oklahoma
Washington upsets Oregon
Miss St. upsets Ole Miss

Any other games/scenarios?

I think those are it. Maybe GTech beating Georgia by multiple scores? But the likelihood of that is quite low.

Any one of those would be good enough in all likelihood. Provided Bama doesn't win the SECCG and BYU doesn't win the B12CG. The odds of those all happening this week is about +140.

Being in the legacy PAC-12 territory, this is what that conference used to do for USC who still spit in their have and caused it to implode. The only "cold weather" destination games were either in early October or early kickoff times in November.

Miami has back-to-back noon kickoffs in subprime windows. Night games in Blacksburg are spooky and cold, so they do non instead to make it sleepy and warm enough. The conference doesn't want TV exposure, they want to give every opportunity for Miami to pick up a win. A true 3:30 PM or 7:30 PM kickoff against Pitt would bring eyeballs (and revenue) but instead the ACC is just trying to protect Miami.

Trust me when I say we should all hope that this backfires as much as possible for Miami and ACC. If Pitt wins this game and goes on to win the conference, we already know they will be below ND and certainly doesn't stand a chance against them.

I'd do some things for this bracket.

I’d rather play at Ole Miss or Oklahoma in the first round than at Oregon. But otherwise, yep.

The teams that feel strongest are Ohio State and Georgia. Let them, and A&M, beat each other up while we run over Bama and outclass Indiana. That seems fine.

I’m sure if you flipped the situations, ND fans would be screaming about how important head to head is
We railed against the "eye-test" during BK 2.0.

For one, I'm never quite sure what the point of posts like this are, that a ND board is full of ND homers? Secondly, my problem is not with the argument Miami fans are making per se it's:
A)the fact they do the whole feigned shocked and outrage bit after EVERY SINGLE FUCKING RANKING is released. Coaches poll, AP, and the CFP committee. It's the same song and dance.

B)they cloak their arguments in "integrity of the game" and "honoring the results on the field" concern trolling language but were absolutely not pounding the table for Louisville to be ranked ahead of them when Louisville had the same record as them.

C)if the roles were reversed the entire national punditry class would absolutely not be pounding the table they way they are now.

As for jprue's comment, sure we did, but how often did that work out for us? The "eye test" was a bitter pill to swallow when we were weighed down by BK's mediocrity, but yet every single time we were pounded into submission by eye test darlings.

And fuck it, it's ND against the world. We have no conference to take up for us. Ara and Lou ruined too many talking heads' dreams when they were little so they all hate us. Basically every other fanbase hates us to the point they're allying with fucking Miami lol. So yeah, fuck it. Whatever benefits ND I'm for. If the committee favors us, so be it, we've earned the benefit of the doubt. Every other fanbase can choke on it.

The same Miami fans who are screaming that results on the field have to matter are bitching that a two loss Miami team should absolutely be ranked ahead of a one loss BYU.

Did they just decide to air it at noon or has it been in this slot for some time? I ask b/c this would be a helluva prime time matchup for any of the ESPN networks In light of Pitt’s upset win over GT which eliminated them from the ACC CG.
