Here’s my hope w/ A. Williams. He has bought into Seider’s philosophy of only playing 2 RBs. He knows most true frosh RB don’t get to play a key role on CFP teams like ND last season. So based on the RB Coach flip, he looks at this year as his true frosh year & last season as his true Sophomore b/c he knows that Love & likely JD are moving on to the NFL making him a feature RB next year w/ Young or James. That’s my hope.

Terrific defensive effort tonight. Ausberry, KVA, Johnson and Hughes all flashed tonight. In the second half, they completely clamped down on the Navy option. Aside from a couple of Woodson scrambles in the first half, it was as good a defensive performance against the triple option as we have seen from Notre Dame since the early 90s.

Carr was on point tonight, though I would like to see him take some of the underneath stuff from time to time (on the pass where Pauling was bumped by the safety who dropped off when Raridon stayed in to block, he had Faison wide open on a square in for a first down). His touch on deep throws is terrific, though. Love is a walking highlight reel. Malachi Fields is a QBs best friend with his physicality and catch radius.

Eric Schmidt looked competent tonight, which is light years ahead of where they were a week ago.

Here's hoping that the injury report is limited this week - next weekend will be a battle.
Perfectly said. It was third down and we were up 7-0. He has plenty of time and there’s Faison past the first down markers with 5 yards on his man in his line of sight and he decides to get greedy (which is becoming his trademark) and throws a bad pass into double coverage with no chance of completion. Killed our momentum and after a terrible punt from Rendell Navy if 55 years from their first score. I was very pissed at Carr for this. Terrible decision just like his throwing into another packed bubble screen. Other than that he was flawless. .

I am going to enjoy having this QB who makes those throws 3 times out of 4 over the previous fellas who didn't even seem to earn the license to attempt them.

That screen pass to Faison that went for a loss and near pick looked straight out of the Miami game. It is out of wack. Get rid of it or fix it. Get rid of it.
This play is often used against aggressive pass rushes, as the defense is often out of position to stop the short pass. Bin it.

Will never like watching a QB get greedy and throw into double coverage when he has an easy first down to a wide open great YAC receiver right in front of him. I appreciate that he has made some nice throws otherwise.

Said the same thing. Carr needs to hold the ball when that happens.

Buffalo and ranch do not belong together... Ranch is gross, bleu cheese = ketchup in condiment rankings
You’re correct. Blue cheese and ketchup are both F tier condiments.

Blue cheese tastes like fermented asshole and ketchup is for 7 year olds.

0 snaps for Boob.

JB on the post game vid said it wasn't injury-related, MF just thought it wasn't the type of game where he would be as useful (I took that to mean as a speed-rush end vs the option).

The great thing is this is a crucial teach tape play even though Carr had as many touchdowns as incompletions (3) while averaging damn near 14 yards a completion!

Exceptional performance with room for growth (at least on that play)

I don’t think we have seen a jet sweep all year. Does Denbrock believe in this? Faison would be the perfect guy to use it with
Jet sweeps out of the gun are too slow. Under center, much quicker and better. But have we even gone under center once this year?

I love jet motion if for nothing else than giving some eye candy for the defense to have to account for. I’m also fine with sacrificing a play like a jet sweep for no gain if you can use that to set up a big gain later from that same look/action.

OL is a real concern against better teams without Craig / Shrauth. Thankfully Carr has made teams pay that choose to stack the box, but the lack of push is my question mark ab this team. Having two elite RBs that can pull a rabbit out of a hat helps too lol.

Were they bad or were there not enough blockers vs defenders?

There were multiple times last night where Denbrock is running Love against a 9 man box. Let Carr punish them. He has proven he can do that. Sometimes it seems Denbrock thinks he still has Leonard at QB.

My only hope is it took the first starting line a few games to gel to start the season. Perhaps after a few games with this line, things will get better.

That said, our rushing attack seems so simple to defend - jam up the middle with 6 guys, send a defender around the edge to tackle the back from the side. No gain.

Our two running backs are the only reason our running game looks serviceable. It’s not the scheme or the OL.

They do pass block well though
