Their offense should but much improved this year. Have some nice deep threats that’s will be difficult to defend. Towt had 11 rebounds or something in the first half.

Still careless with the ball…

This team should be deadly from 3. Really enjoyed the sets for Cole Certa. Ryder Frost was a pleasant surprise.

I worry about Towt’s ability to hold up once they get some ACC teams with size. TBH, I wasn’t even impressed with his defending, but his ability to board is uncanny.

Harrellson didn’t have a night to remember but you could see his raw ability. I think if he can live up to his 5 star status and get better throughout the year, this team can be a top 5 team in the weakened ACC

Irish win 89-67 over an LIU team that is preseason pick to win the NEC, Look way better, way deeper than last couple years. Burton won't have to carry us on his back this year. As far as the new guys:

Towt is a terrific rebounder and his defense is very competitive. He'll make the other team's big man work for his points. Not a shooter, but he knows it and passes well.

Haralson , in spite of the ranking, may not be our best freshman. Ryder Frost is a player. 15 points in 11 minutes!

Team is way more muscular than before. Certa, Imes and Burton have all bulked up nicely. Certa is money from three.

Only negative was the 19 turnovers. But we played very up tempo and pushed the ball quickly.

Sundra also looked a more healthy weight.

Relax bed wetter.

I do think the offense, when not shooting itself in the foot was good. Half court defense looked better, but it was the turnovers that kept the game "close."

We win 15-17 games if we "don't shoot ourselves in the foot"....if we are lucky. 🤣

Sad reality of Notre Dame basketball until proven different

I said 15-17. I hope they prove me wrong. I still think next year is when we start getting much better.
Ok, I think you made your point. Are we not allowed to discuss ND basketball until they win 15-17?

By all accounts, this should be the most talented team in a while, without question under Shrews. If they don't make a run at the tourney, I'm sure some difficult conversations will be had. But most have them predicted to be a bubble team. I guess that isn't the case in the IB77 power rankings....

Its on ACCNX if that's any help.

Irish looking good.
Unfortunately, ACCN is owned by ESPN, so it is also caught up in the Disney vs. Google strife on YTTV. And I already paid for NFL Sunday Ticket so I'm basically stuck with YTTV until the NFL Postseason. Hope they get this resolved soon.

I did have some luck with my FUBO free trial (5 days and easy cancelation) this weekend for college football, FWIW.

Back in action tonight on ACCNX against Detroit-Mercy. -21.5 favorites. that's a big #, but the Titans have been abysmal for the past decade+. Might sprinkle some cash on a cover here. ND won by a wide margin against a much better team earlier this week.

LIU is much better than Detroit Mercy and Eastern Illinois. LIU returned their top 2 scorers from a team that went 12-4 in conference. I'd bet LIU is near the top of the NEC yet again.

Detroit will be the bottom of the Horizon. Idk much about Eastern Illinois, but they are possibly worse than Detroit. It's been a while since ND has smacked around the opponents that they should consistently. Too many bad losses and close games to bad teams. Just beating these teams the way they should by 25+ means they have taken a step forward

I think Detroit will be SLIGHTLY better than people think this year, they return basically everyone, and Montgomery was a good hire from the Izzo coaching tree, now in his second season. Doesn't mean they will test ND...I think they'll finish middle of the pack in the Horizon though.

Agreed on LIU, who we beat by 22, so I like the -21.5 tonight. I believe they are projected to win their conference and were a nice opening test that the Irish passed with flying colors.

They played very good. Out of position a lot in the first half with rebounding and does ANYONE in college or pros follow their shots anymore.

That being said. I can't really complain about this game.

Slow start, poor shooting. Boy did they correct that midway through the first half and never looked back

Oregon-Iowa could be a fun game, but overall I mostly feel bad for Nessler and Danielson for not getting the 3:30 SEC game anymore. Half the Saturdays they cover have to be football purgatory.

Really impressive offensive 2nd half performance last night. Shrewsberry’s shooting is locked in right now. Seems like with more tools he can be more efficient because his volume doesn’t have to be up allowing for more in rhythm open shots.

Burton doing Burton things too.

Just saw online that we got a commitment from a 7 foot tall Mongolian. Super interesting.

I'm really hoping we aren't getting suckered into a false sense of hope like prior years but the scoring depth definitely looks much improved this year. Take the UDM game last Friday; I think Burton had 2 points in the first half, but they didn't skip a beat. More quality shooters, and as you mentioned, Shrews is on fire early on here in 2025.

Sunday is our first big test @ OSU.

Definitely could be fools gold. I still think the team is a year away from being good, but I think they could hang at times this year with some teams.

I agree with you, they were on a few "bubble watches" in the preaseson, including Jay Bilas' so that would be pretty spot on.

I'd love to see them get back to March Madness, but even just interesting basketball in February would be a welcome change of pace.

Looking at ESPN top 100 NBA draft prospects for 2026, I don't see Harelson on there anywhere. Is the thought at ND that we could have him for more than one year?

Yeah, from everything I've seen he was at least a two year NCAA guy.

Nice win last night. We have a bunch of guys who can score. Imes is not one of them. I don’t get why he’s shooting threes. They almost never go in.

Yeah, 4-star Gan-Erdene Solongo. He's another La Lumiere HS product, along with Jalen Haralson last year and Jonathan Sanderson this year! It also helps that ND hired Sanderson's father as strength and conditioning coach...and Solongo apparently lives with the Sanderson family!

You are. I hate to be THAT guy but I honestly can't see this team winning more than 15-17. I would be surprised.

1-2 more years I think. I could be wrong
