Penn State pulling the trigger on Franklin makes the fans a lot more restless as this thing drags out. Kelly doesn’t want to be here and nobody wants him here either.
I don’t believe BK ever wanted to be there and frankly, I don’t think he ever cared if he ended up getting fired. He got a golden parachute and he’s got eyes on retirement.

I think he knew his time at ND was limited. He kind of was always looking for an out since 2012, but nothing was biting. Then when LSU came along with a massive offer, he knew he would never get it at Notre Dame. He bounced, took their money, and now basically doesn't care if he wins or loses on the field, he's winning with an extra $100,000,000 in his pocket.

everyone wants to be liked, some more than others. It is very stressful to remain in a place where people dislike you (and are making it known)

Brian Kelly’s claim to fame will always be him being a pathetic loser! No one will remember his DII national championship. No one will remember his 100+ wins at ND. Everyone will remember the losses in the CFP and national championship game, and his 4 loses a year at LSU. The dude sucks!
This sir, brought a tear to my eye. Beautiful

Who do you think they'd target if he were actually canned?

I think Kiffin would kill it in BR, but I think Florida will beat them to the punch.

It’s not like he was poorly compensated by us. He could’ve done another three or four years at Notre Dame and then retired, if that’s what he wanted.

Personally I still think he thought it would be easier to win a title at LSU, and that’s the one thing he hasn’t done. That they wanted to pay him $100 million was icing on the cake.

But, at this point, he’s probably realized he’s not winning no title at LSU, so he’s just hanging around as long as they’ll let him.

Imagine a scenario where Florida, Penn State, LSU, Florida State, and USC all are looking for a coach.

The carousel would be 100 mph and cause many casualties.

If we survive it, I’m here for it.

On paper it's easier to win a title at LSU than ND, but the game is played on grass and the Achilles' Heel to a team coached by BK winning a title is the fact that BK is their HC.

I think Denbrock is sort of in his sweet spot at ND. And I doubt anyone will seriously consider Ash with him getting all sorts of negative talk (rightly so) at the start of the season.

I'll be more curious about position coaches getting promotions or lower level HC opportunities than losing the coordinators or MF

I wasn’t referring to them.

$100+ million and access to year round sunshine can make any coaches wife start planting seeds of doubt.

Think it’s pretty simple: make MF the highest paid coach in the state again. It’s a bad look if IU is outspending you for a football coach.

Eh, anything is possible but I'm not really concerned about it.

I think BK truly wanted a change of scenery, to challenge himself at LSU, and compete in the SEC. And I'm sure he believed he could win at the highest level with easy access to elite athletes. The money was nice, I'm sure, but I don't believe it was the only factor

It's not working out for him, and I still enjoy seeing him lose. But you are kidding yourself if you think he's putting in 90 hour work weeks and doesn't care.

I think this is probably closer to the truth. The problem is Kelly thinks he’s a better coach than he is.

Everyone knew who BK was except for BK.

Deep down, in our souls, we knew he wasn't going to win a title. Deep down, Savvy Jack knew the same thing.

However, BK 2.0 was never going to get fired. 10+ wins a year and the playoffs every other year or so would have made everyone happy enough that he could have ridden it out as long as he wanted.

It was a very similar to the situation that State Penn was in with Franklin. Franklin doesn't get fired for losing to Oregon. He got fired because not only did they know that he couldn't win the big ones but now they had started to lose the games they shouldn't have lost. If he had beat UCLA and Northwestern and won out but for a lost to Ohio St. he would still have been their coach next year if he wanted to be.

It's easier for an AD, donors and fan base to keep accepting those 10 win seasons instead of the risk that you blow it up and the next guy is worse.

BK's problem is that he didn't realize that he's the problem. He thought ND was the problem.

Nobody is going to feel bad for him when he never wins the championship. Not our fans. Not LSU fans.

With all of the other big jobs coming open it's going to be interesting to see what their AD does.

If they keep him, I don't think it will be because of the buyout. Penn State shows that schools can find the money. But, they will only find it if they are at the end of their rope with the guy currently in charge.

If they keep him it means they aren't at the end of their rope but it also means that deep down they are okay with settling for 8-10 wins.
