This is refreshing from the BK era where sure we would win reliably against this tier of teams but they always sort of felt like the lower end of our peer group. Even with the game tight going into half the talent discrepancy popped off the screen. It felt more like we were playing with our food than a tight game between teams in the same tier.
When we’re clicking on both sides of the ball I think we have a legitimate claim as the best team in the country. (I’m not saying we should be ranked #1 which is a different thing) We got Freeman talking about violence and bloodshed again so you know the team is locked in and on a mission.
It was absolutely that we were playing with our food combined with shooting ourselves in the foot in the red zone offensively.
I believe at halftime ND had around double the yards and first downs than NC St. combine that with the fact NC St didn’t cross mid field the entire first half besides their long touchdown play. ND just had two empty possessions in the red zone + the refs costing them time right before half and having to settle for a field goal.
Opened draft kings during halftime to expect the live spread to still be 21+ and was shocked it was 14. Hammered it with my buddy as ND was already up 3, getting the ball at half. Our eyes didn’t lie who was dominating the game but Vegas’ algorithm was clueless (for once).
