Just touching on offense

Carr with an average game but still good qb play

Some real head scratchers by denbrock. Carr in box with wildcat doesn’t even pull out a defender. Just dumb.

Glad love is ok.

Penalties crushed the offense

Fields needs to be a constant threat in the red zone. That was our first attempt to him in red zone. We’re not utilizing him enough

The most flags I have ever seen in person...I think 30 penalties were called, including those offsetting and declined, just insane.

Just watched the game and wow that has to be the worst officiating I've ever seen. Not just a ton of really questionable flags both ways but I feel they gave them several 1st downs that they were short on. Then failed to review the spot of the ball.
I'm going to my 1st ever ND game against NC St. If the refs are terrible like tonight I'm getting arrested.
No Ragrets!

This team is better than 2024 ND. Maybe a hot take, but I think we'll see that as the rest of the year unfolds.

They certainly can be. I’d still take 2024 on a neutral field bc they so rarely made mistakes and just made the right plays at the right time so often.

I was too exhausted after traveling over 60 hours on the road this week for job interviews to really watch the game with any thought other than, did anyone else not really like the uniforms today?

  • Solid W
  • Refs Sucked
  • D is much improved over the last two weeks, and this week seemed like another step in the right direction. Much more PRESSURE, which was part of what led to all the picks. Agree with others that this the first time we felt like last years D.
  • Speaking of picks, the backend of the D is starting to look elite again
  • Receivers are really starting come into shape. Fields and Pauling are very solid WRs. Faison had a great game and is a stud. We have what we need in WRs. Haven’t always been able to say that at ND.
  • Oline is also looking better as the season carries forward. Not elite or dominant yet. But good and improving
  • Two plays away from 42-7. Still got to make those, BUT Boise ate up lot of clock. So not worried at all about the offense or Carr.
  • Carr looked human, but those games will happen. Still shows he can make all the throws, accurate on the run, make reads/progressions, check plays well, and throw dimes often. He is HIM
  • Feeling good about the team. After a rough start we are now 3-2 with our two losses to what could be top 5 teams by tomorrow (worst case two top 6 teams). Playing better and better ball.

While JD has undoubtedly taken a big step forward, I definitely feel like he’s running into lighter boxes / has more room on average than J Love has so far this season. Really have struggled to give Jeremiyah room to get going this year for whatever reason. Think he was pretty great today in gretting 2-4 more yards after contact every time however.

I cannot give specifics, but I remember the Michigan games during the Weis era being pretty harsh.

That and the 91 Orange Bowl, but that was just one bad call.
1964 @SC robbed Ara of a national title.
1999 @UM flagged for 'excessive celebration' on the 4th qtr go ahead TD
2004 Pitt refs flagged every major play in ND's favor
2009 @UM refs awarded Mich at least 20 points in a one score game.

Happy for the win. One of the more frustrating 3-score victories in recent memory. Certainly some discipline issues, but MY GOD did that ref crew suck! They 100% put their paychecks on the over for penalties called. Either that or this was college football's 1st ever all-autistic officiating crew - in which case I'm very happy for them!

Wasn't really around the internet yesterday, did we ever hear about what's up with Greathouse?

Hamstring issue, but some fear he's preserving his eligibility in order to bounce because that's the climate we live in.

I almost feel like Love is so absurdly talented they give him the tougher runs just to see what he can do. Like wildcatting into a loaded box on fourth and 1. Maybe let's make it a little easier on ourselves.

The play calling for love seems to hurt him sometimes. He has the speed to get outside, but makes the cut way too early. There was at least three times yesterday. If he did take it more outside, he had to sideline it as his just to run. And the wildcat does no one any favors. It is a waste of time.

To be fair it was just the fourth-and-one wildcat (bad idea) and Carr missing the throw to Pauling from being a five-score victory.

The penalties were ridiculous (in both directions) and gave Boise several more chances than they should have had, but I'm not going to be fully sold on our defense until I see them do it against a team with real weapons. The keep-them-in-front-of-you and make-them-earn-it-all-the-way-down-the-field approach works against teams like Boise where no one really has the speed to break a big play, but we saw A&M and Miami get behind us a few times, and USC could do same. We shall see!

I would not want to try to defend our offense. The only semi-weak link at this point might be certain OLs in pass protection, and even then, they're pretty good and Carr is mobile enough that you're not going to stop us too often that way.

It’s crazy how football works sometimes. We’ve always had a good o line and now that’s the weakest part of the offense.

Was good to see Bryce Young loose a few more times chasing the QB. Need more and more pressure the next few weeks

Any reports on the ground of interactions with BSU fans? Don’t think I personally know any.
