This literally happens every year. Idk why we get so angsty over it every time lol.
Well, when it has happened recently (UGA, OSU) we've lost close games where it might have mattered. And this just doesn't happen at other top programs.

And every year we have the discussion that ND is more of a destination than other top programs. This will continue to happen if/when we randomly schedule top teams who travel well and maybe only travel to ND once in a generation.

We’re the Disney World of college football, and you might only get one shot at going when your team plays here. If I were an opposing fan, it doesn’t matter the cost, I’m paying the money to make the pilgrimage.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone, but the anger should lie with the ticket holders who continue to sell their seats, and the ticket office who continues to allow it to happen. Until that changes, this will not

This worry happens every year because it’s a night game and away fans tend to tailgate earlier and go into the stadium earlier because they don’t know where else to go. By kickoff it looks significantly different.
