In his defense, he did go through some putrid qb play during that stretch with UW.

If we're using that context with some of our wr play, Pauling likely deserves the same benefit.

Fair but Pauling was like Top 15 in the country in targets.

Greathouse: 79% Receptions/Target, 14.1 Yards/Catch, 11.2 Yards/Target, 6.5 Yards After Catch/Reception

Faison: 73% Receptions/Target, 11.9 Yards/Catch, 8.7 Yards/Target, 5.5 Yards After Catch/Reception

2023 Pauling: 67% Receptions/Target, 11.4 Yards/Catch, 7.7 Yards/Target, 3.7 Yards After Catch/Reception

The YAC/reception is particularly a red flag with Pauling. Slot in Longo’s offense was like plug and play YAC monster historically. Our returning guys just need more volume to produce more. I like Pauling as a 4th piece more than like Harrison but I’m just hoping it’s just that, the 4th piece at best for the ceiling of the offense

The YAC component is interesting and those Longo offenses with Howell and Maye were fun to watch at unc.

Excited to see if he can change the narrative with an accurate Carr. I really think that'll be one of the big differences this year; not just Carr's accuracy, but his ability to connect with targets in stride as they're moving upfield.

My favorite baseball practice shirt read “Sex Kills” on the back it said “so come to Notre Dame and live forever”.

Imagine if I had social media back then… the outrage!!

Certainty of a good season:

1. Greathouse
2. Fields
3. Pauling
4. Faison
5. Gilbert
6. Burress

Potential for surprise: reverse order of first list + anyone not mentioned (K.K., Saldate, Williams, Scrap)

If anyone besides Greathouse, Fields, Pauling or Faison make a "big" contribution, this offense should be very potent. Exciting to hear there could be some big contributors lurking in the shadows of the 4 expected starters. When did Carr say this?
Williams ought to be at #5 at worse if we want to be as dynamic as we plan to be

Williams was the star power of the 24 class, but I think Gilbert makes a big leap this season.

I remember reading that Gilbert was a standout last season in camp. Him breaking out after a year in the program wouldn't surprise me.
