Alright guys, it's that time of year to really start talking about ND's possible seeding in the NCAA Tourney, and the Big East Confrence Tourney.

For those that weren't around last year this thread is to discuss ND's seeding, the upcomming match-up, and/or furutre possible match-ups in either of those tourneys, not as a game thread during any of the games. That should be kept seperate.

As of right now ESPN's Joe Lunardi has ND as a #4 seed in the South Region. If this were the case they'd be facing #13 Cornell from the Ivy League in the first round with a probable match-up against a #5 seed Washington in the second round. This pod would be played in Denver and the other top teams in that bracket include (1) Memphis, (2) Texas, and (3) Xavier. His other #4 seeds include Kansas St., Louisville, and Wisconsin.

ESPN - Bracketology

At Bracketography.com they ND listed as the #5 seed in the East Regional. Their first round opponent there would be #12 Oregon, with a likely second round match-up against #4 Butler. This pod would be played in Birmingham, AL. Other teams of note in that bracket are (1) Tennessee, (3) Purdue, and (2) North Carolina.

Try this link out! The Bracket Project's Bracket Matrix

This has the seedings from 42 different brackets. The combined average for the Irish is a # 5 seed. Possible #12 seed opponents would be St. Joe's, South Alabama, Kent State, and Western Kentucky.

Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for visiting Bracketography.

I do think that the Selection Committee will try to take into account the geographic placement that ND suffered last year when all is said and done. The biggest thing missing from the Irish resume at this point is a really quality road win -- beating Louisville on the 28th would certainly qualify, and would push them into the 2-3 range assuming no bad losses between now and Selection Sunday.

Yeah, because Nova went into the tank. It's just like last year, they beat Bama when they were ranked #5 but by tourney time it wasn't even considered a quality win of any sort because Bama choked so bad down the stretch.

Interesting. I think the Irish would have to make a deep run in the Big East Tournament to earn a #2 seed, but a #3 seed would seem to be within reach if they finish off this run aginst quality opponents.

That being said, tonight's game is huge. Pitt has a win over Duke on a neutral court. Granted that was with their starting point guard, but it still makes Pitt look good. A win tonight is a must have if the Irish want that #3 seed.

I'd like to see them stay out of the Memphis part of the bracket. Regardless of what happens Saturday night, I think Memphis has to be the odd on favorite to win the tournament this season. Any dreams of a Final Four run would be hampered by a seeding in their part of the bracket.

I do not see ND getting a 2 or 3 seed unless they win the big east tournament....I think in the end they will be a 4 seed. I think they win there first round game but lose in the second because of lack of senior leadership...next year is their year!

I don't think have to win the tournament to get a 2 or a 3, but they need to at least get to the championship game. If they were to get their against a team like Georgetown or UConn but lose, I think the case could be made for a 3 seed if they finish the regular season without another loss.

But a loss between now and the tournament will slot them as a 4.

I think we lose 2 (Maybe 3) more regular season games. Not sure how we will do in the Big East Tournament. That being said I say we get a 5 seed in the NCAA Tourney (Thats if we can do well in the Big East Tourney) Maybe a 4 seed. Hard to say.

Let's not forget the "rip off Notre Dame" factor as far as seeding. Time has shown that, many times, we get a lower seed than we deserve. As of now, I think we deserve a #4 seed with the possibility of raising to a #3. But, the committee will probably hand us a #5. And, as usual, no one at Notre Dame will make a sound about being cheated. I really think Notre Dame needs to open it's mouth when an injustice to them happens. But, instead, we always act like we are rising above it, which is foolish.

Next season, we have a couple of Notre Dame connections on the committee. That might help, immensely. Right now, Ohio State AD Gene Smith is on the committee. He is a Notre Dame grad. Let's hope he gets his two cents in this season regarding our seeding.

First, HOORAY for TORY JAckson! That kid played like a champion tonight! The team as a whole showed me the best game thay've played in YEARS! Terrific persistence down the last 12 minutes. Great job!

Two, let's face facts. ND hasn't won a Tournament game in five years. They're not getting "no love". They're getting what 0 fer five years deserves. This year, until tonight, I didn't see anything to justify real respect. The preseason schedule is a flat out fraud. They got SMOKED by GTown and Marquette early in the conference schedule, and they blew the second UConn game, and NEARLY blew the games to Marquette and Rutgers too. They were looking, when you get objective about it, like another good candidate for an early plane ride home from wheever the first weekend finds them. TONIGHT was a BIG change. They played hard, stayed consistent. Survvived a cold spell and came back strong. Jackson played like a warrior. Harangody, too. Mac made some timely three's, and then, even more impressive, DIDN'T go on a gunning spree. This was a fine, fine performance, and the FIRST one I've seen this year that says they may stick around in the Dance for a while. However, they have NOT been treated unfairly with the bracketlogy to date.

Three, I continue to se one glaring trouble spot. Luke Zeller. He's a 6'11" guy who plays shorter than TORY JACKSON is. Tonight, when Hillesland pulled foul #4, and Kurz was already sitting with #4, Brey couldn't go to Zeller to play under neath. He had to re-insert Kurz. A 6'11" shooting guard, we do NOT need. (He was 1 for 4 tonight, and 0 fer 3 from outside the arc.) This guy has to help underneath. 'Gody and Kurz need him down there.

Unfortunately, bracketology counts for nothing. They can place us high and then the real brackets come out and we are cheated and placed lower and in the wrong area.

True enough, but do you believe they have been treated unfairly in the brackets lately? I don't.

After finishing off another high quality week in the Big East ND seems to be up to #4 seed everywhere you look and with their remaining schedule you'd have to think there's a least a chance of moving up one more line if they win the games they're supposed to and get another one or two quality wins.

One such opportunity comes this Thursday when they visit Louisville. If they were to pull that one out they have a great chance to go 4-0 to finish out the regular season. Their three remaining games after Louisville will be this Sunday at DePaul, next Wed. at home vs. St. John's, and then the next Sat at USF.

Even if the Irish don't win this Thursday at Louisville and they just win the games they're expected to then the Irish would still figure to be a lock to get a first round bye in the Big East Tourney.

Why are we always plagued by people who only like Notre Dame in football, but seem to always have a team they like better in basketball? There is a difference between a Notre Dame fan and a Notre Dame football fan. The latter are merely clingons.

Way true! I think that part of it is that ND has started scheduling their pre=conference schedule with a lot of LOW prfile competition,. ND football fans are used to the season being a gauntlet of future bowl teams. They just can't get pumped up for Long Island U, or Colgate, or Monmouth. It doesn't FEEL like a notre Dame schedule.

That's college basketball though, there isn't a team out there that doesn't have a bunch of cupcakes on their non-confrence schedule, and many of the "major" confrences have them too like C-USA, A10, etc.

As long as Notre Dame can win out the rest of the regular season, I can't see us as being anything less than a 4 seed in the Tournament. That being said, Notre Dame has to come out swinging in these last few games. Louisville has its eyes on the top spot that could be there's if Georgetown loses to Marquette, which is a huge possibility. We'll be playing the Cards at home so anything is possible. Also one shouldn't rule out Depaul or South Florida. Last year SF beat us when we traveled there, even though we dismantled them earlier in the season.

I just want them to win out and get a good tournament spot...let's say Tampa. That would be great. The band is going with the team, and I want to go somewhere warm. Spokane was nice last year, but Tampa is hot hot hot!

Go Irish

dayton you know there will be times where it looks like Notre Dame will let them back into it only to pummel them again.. Harangody for 25, KMAC nailing the threes, Jackson runnin the show and the rest of the cast making their normal contributions. ND 87 UofL 81.

The Louisville game is on the road, not at home but reguardless, I think if they go 3-1, and then at least make it to the Big East Semis then I think they'll lock up a #4 seed.
