Wow the competition still trying to use going to class as a negative recruiting tool against us in their pursuit of Jayden Warren.

"A lot of people outside of Notre Dame say it's hard to get an education there, but it can't be that hard when they have the No. 1 graduation rate."

So what are other coaches saying? "You're not smart enough to go to Notre Dame"

Basically that it's hard to make it at ND because you have to actually be a STUDENT-Athlete in that order.
Pretty easy to see why a RKG would choose ND over that type of selling point. If a coach was actually hypothetically telling me "you don't have to worry about your education here." In other words: "let's all just pretend like you will make it in Football and you don't need that sort of lifetime insurance policy or '4 for 40' crap ND sells," I'd commit to Freeman on the spot.

Obviously other kids would love that idea, but not a Notre Dame man.

Spot on, crazy thing is that these things have been said for years in an effort to recruit against us, especially with two rival schools who shall remain nameless.

ND response: sure it’s hard but you can always go elsewhere and get an easy and meaningless degree. Or you can come here and get a degree that will set you up for life.

ND's response should be: "You just have to keep on doing what you've done in High School. You have the grades to get into ND, and if you just do what you've done in High School you'll be fine."

Makes me think of two classic Coach Holtz quotes...

"You don't go to Notre Dame to learn something; you go to Notre Dame to be somebody."

"Winners embrace hard work. They love the discipline of it, the trade-off they're making to win. Losers, on the other hand, see it as punishment. And that's the difference."

Were you recruited by ND? I’m curious about your recruiting experience, regardless.

No, I was a late player into organized Football. Moved down south for Basketball from the city for my last two years of HS once my brother committed to Wake. Oddly enough after running into a former AAU Track coach he convinced me to get back into Track and after winning the 100 and 200 the Football coaches asked me to come play Football (due to both siblings success) with my speed. Had alot of success in all 3 but I needed to gain alot of weight for Football, I was 165 when I arrived in the South and about 177 when I got to college. I could've came and did Basketball or Track for ND, but I got a ton of offers after the track season for Football and running fastest 40 at a couple camps but it was so late in the process (June).

No surprise though that the Coach was none other than Tyrone Willingham, he loved to do his due diligence on the recruiting trail🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The 100 is like swinging the driver..... One tiny detail goes wrong and the entire operation is screwed.. Smaller room for error especially at the state level. You have a bad start and somebody is going to make you pay for it

I always felt that way about the 60 indoors but in the 100 it's a select few who can recover from mediocre starts (Bolt, Lyles, Fahnbulleh) by coming out the drive phase and hitting top end speed after 50 meters, but it's definitely minimal room for error. Damn any error in that 60 it's goodnight.

Not expected to take his midweek OV to ND. Was told his “OV schedule is over”. Buzz is with Houston right now.

Saying the ND visit set the bar in your recruitment and then committing to Houston two weeks later is very spiritually Greenberry

With a final 3 of those teams you would think we woulda had a great shot? Maybe a flip candidate down the road?
